What Is In this Version
The following information describes the updates to the HP-UX-based Gigabit Ethernet driver
called igelan. The GigEther-01 software bundle, which is loaded into the operating
environment (OE), contains the igelan driver.
The September 2008 version of the HP-UX 11i v3 GigEther-01 driver contains the following
fixes:
QXCR1000771976
Support for 1000FD speed on IGELAN
A new configuration option 1000fd is introduced in the nwmgr(1M) and
lanadmin(1M) commands to support this feature.
NOTE:
This feature is available only in igelan and iether drivers,
and not in the gelan driver.
QXCR1000771966
Support for accelerated virtual I/O (AVIO) to significantly improve HPVM
I/O performance.
The new HPVM AVIO devices provide significant performance
improvement (up to 60% decrease in Service Demand and up to 2X
increase in throughput) over the existing (fully emulated) Virtual I/O
(VIO) devices.
The Accelerated Virtual I/O (AVIO) solution is composed of the following
four new products: GuestAvioLan, HostAvioLan, GuestAvioStor,
and HostAvioStor.
The AVIO lan driver supports the following Ethernet drivers: ixgbe
(10GbE), igelan (1GbE), and iether (1GbE).
The configuration process for the new AVIO devices is the same as the
existing VIO devices. The only difference is the device names used in the
hpvmcreate or hpvmmodify commands. The AVIO device names are
aviolan (or avio_lan) and aviostor (or avio_stor).
QXCR1000772048
Fix provided for the NIC LED issue on BL860C and BL870C.
QXCR1000587489
The nwmgr_igelan manpage specifies pktsize default values as 100 bytes.
The man page has been updated to reflect the correct value of current
MTU - 3 bytes.
QXCR1000584138
Gigabit (igelan) card hangs.
Fix has been provided where cards supported by the igelan driver on
HP-UX 11i v3 could occasionally hang. It required resetting the card with
lanadmin. Cards affected were Gigabit Ethernet cards such as A6825A,
A6847A, and core I/O card A6947A.
