Slide coupling half into place while guiding three mounting bolts through holes in pump support bracket. 10. Secure with nuts and washers removed earlier. 12 11. Set .010 to .060 inch clearance between the nylon “spider” and the engine coupling half by sliding a matchbook cover between the nylon “spider” and the engine coupling half and moving pump coupling half as needed. Secure pump coupling half with set screw. See figure 16. NOTE: Make certain proper clearance is obtained before tighteni
Extend and retract the wedge fully 10 to 12 complete cycles to remove trapped air in the system (system is “self-bleeding”). FIGURE 10. f. Refill the reservoir to within 1-1/2" to 2" from the top of the tank. Much of the original fluid has been drawn into the cylinder and hoses. Make certain to refill the reservoir, to prevent extreme damage to the hydraulic pump. Failure to refill the tank will void your warranty. 8 NOTE: Some fluid may overflow from the vent plug as the system builds heat
Improper adjustment will cause stalling when splitter is under load, hard starting and higher fuel consumption. Refer to the separate engine manual packed with your log splitter for carburetor adjustment information. NOTE: A dirty air cleaner will cause engine to run rough. Be certain air cleaner is clean and attached to the carburetor before adjusting carburetor. Do not make unnecessary adjustments. Factory settings are satisfactory for most applications and conditions. MAINTENANCE Hex Bolt
Excessive engine speeds are dangerous. 5. Never store outside without a waterproof cover. 3 Rain will cause rust on the inside of the cylinder. TOOLS REQUIRED: (1) Raw Hide or Plastic Hammer (1) 1-1/8" wrench or adjustable wrench (2) 1/2" wrenches (1) Standard screw driver (1) 3/4" wrench (1) 5/8" wrench OTHER MATERIALS NEEDED: (A) One gallon or regular grade gasoline (for engine) (B) 2-3/4 pints of SAE 30 or 10W oil (for engine) (C) 2-1/2 gallons of 10W 30 H.D. oil only (for Log Sp
Be sure oil drains completely. Replace oil drain plug and refill with oil as directed on page 5 or engine nameplate. 2. Check oil every five (5) operating hours or each time equipment is used. Clean cylinder fins and underside of tank or housing thoroughly of all accumulated grass and debris. 4. Air Cleaner. (See figure 18.) a. Paper Type Element. Remove every 10 hours or oftener if under dusty conditions. Tap to remove loose dirt and/or blow from inside out with low pressure air. Replace i
Check fluid level before each use. A. Block up front of log splitter so the beam is level. B. Remove the fluid check plug from the back of the log splitter. See figure 9. If fluid starts to come out of the hole, fluid level is correct. If it does not, replace the check plug loosely, ^ pull the cap off the breather tube, and add Dexron II automatic transmission fluid until fluid starts out of the hole when the plug is removed. C. Replace fluid check plug securely. Replace cap on the breather

This increases the haz ard of personal injury. The maximum engine sp?ed is preset by the manufacturer and is within s jfe-ty limits. 5. Do not alter your splitter in any manner such as attaching a rope or extension to the control lever or adding to the width or height of the wedge. Such alterations may cause your splitter to be unsafe. 6. Perform all recommended maintenance procedures before you use your splitter. 7. Do not service or repair your log splitter without disconnecting the spark p
Leaks can be located by passing a piece of cardboard or wood over the suspected leak and look for discoloration. 8. Should it become necessary to loosen or remove any hydraulic fitting or line, be sure to relieve all pressure by shutting off the engine and moving the control handle back and forth several times. 9. Don't remove the cap from the hydraulic tank or reservoir while your log splitter is running. Hot oil under pressure could cause injury. 10. Never store outside without a waterproof
