From the RMI:
Go to Operations > Magazines. Select Left, Right, or Both, and then
Replacing the tape cartridges and
click on Release. Pull the released magazine(s) out of the device. If
selecting Both, follow the instructions that display on the OCP.

Transfer the tape cartridges from the old magazine(s) to the new
magazine(s) if necessary. Tapes may be pushed out of the slots by
pushing the tape through the hole on the back of the magazine.
IMPORTANT:
The clear plastic pieces in the magazine slots are required by
the robotics for slot alignment. Never remove these clear plastic
pieces.
Using the manual release:
Slide the magazine(s) completely into the device. The magazine(s) will
lock into place. The Library or Autoloader will re-inventory the
magazine(s) after the magazine(s) have been installed.
From the back of the device, determine which magazines need to be
removed. Number 1 will release all of the right magazines, Number 2
will release all of the left magazines.
The MSL4048, MSL8048, and MSL8096 Tape Libraries and their
mailslot-capable lower-left magazine have corresponding white dots on
1) the front bezel, and 2) the magazine. For mailslot capability, place
the magazine with the mailslot in the lower left magazine bay.
