manual abstract

The share access issue was corrected to ensure that redirection of share names using vhostmap
file works correctly. Previously, a System error 53 message was displaying when attempting
to access shares using virtual share names. See “Mapping old share names to new share names”
in the HP StoreAll OS User Guide for more information about the vhostmap file.

A validation check has been added to ensure that each user or group in the permission list of all
SMB shares exists when performing share management operations. If invalid users and/or groups
are found, a message displays a list of those invalid users and groups with a recommendation to
purge them. Additionally, the —pu option has been added to the ibrix_cifs command to
perform the purge operation of invalid users and/or groups from the permission list of all SMB
shares. Previously, because invalid users and groups were not validated during share management
operations, these operations would fail when invalid users and/or groups were present in the
permission list of SMB shares.

The ibrix_mountpoint command has been updated to ensure that mount options are enabled
for StoreAll clients. Previously, this issue required users to manually specify any mount options on
the client using the ibrix_lwmount command.

During a system recovery of a 9730, the Install ASCII Wizard will now prompt the user with a
message if there is an attempt to configure a number of Virtual Connect networks that is different
from the number configured during the initial installation. Previously, there was no message and
the installation process would fail silently during the Fusion Manager setup.

When using either a Powershell command (clear-content) or a Windows command prompt (copy
/Y nul) to clear content on a file on an SMB share, the content will now be cleared successfully.

Updated the Firmware Management Tool (FMT) to include the latest firmware (5.2.3) for the
NC382i embedded network adapter used on 93xx systems. Previously, because the network
adapter firmware was not detected, the following error message would display when attempting
to update the NIC firmware: 0x1A0F - Discovery failed for HP Embedded Network
Adapter using CP0xxxxx.scexe.

If the node running the active Fusion Manager shuts down unexpectedly, the cluster virtual interface
(VIF) is now correctly freed so another node can take over with the active Fusion Manager.
Previously, because the active Fusion Manager failed, the cluster VIF was not properly released,
which resulted in there being no active Fusion Manager on any node in the cluster. Although data
remained accessible, users could not access the user interface, execute CLI commands, or maintain
system monitoring.

The ibrix_nic command was modified to ensure that, when setting the IP address and/or the
netmask, the broadcast address is calculated and set properly. Previously, the broadcast address
was not calculated correctly, which led to unnecessary and misrouted traffic on the user network.

Implemented a shell script (pruneIbrixEvent.sh) that runs once daily to manage the size of
the Fusion Manager event database – a minimum of two days of events are retained for normal
operations and a maximum of seven days of events are retained for troubleshooting. If the active
Fusion Manager is working as expected when the script is run, all events older than the last two
days are purged. For example, if the script runs on the 20th, all events older than the 18th are
purged. If the active Fusion Manager is experiencing issues or the database size is 5 MB or
greater when the script is run, the last seven days of events are retained for troubleshooting
purposes.

Performing longer-running share management operations when there is a large number of SMB
shares in a cluster containing a significant number of nodes will now complete successfully.
Previously, execution of the ibrix_cifs and ibrix_cifsperms commands to perform these
operations could fail and display the "Unable to contact remote Fusion Manager" error message.

Improved the error messaging when HP-SMB detects a network reset on the connection with the
associated domain controller. Previously, the Missing client sitename error displayed,
which did not provide enough detail about the specific issue.
