Matrix Database Solution Pack for Oracle HiAv on Linux
2
Open Issues and Workarounds
The following open issues affect MxDB-Oracle-HiAv.
Issue with the PILOT Database and DBCA
The MxDB-Oracle-HiAv Solution Pack uses the Database Configuration
Assistant (DBCA) to create the PILOT training and demonstration
database. Oracle Corporation has identified a bug in certain releases of
Oracle9i where their use of the Oracle Disk Manager interface can cause
DBCA database creation to fail. This is Oracle bug 4349508 and is
scheduled to be addressed in the Oracle9i version 9.2.0.8 release.
PolyServe tracks this bug with PolyServe bug number 12527. The bug
manifests itself in the DBCA database creation logfile with the following
type of error output:
ORA-01503: CREATE CONTROLFILE failed
ORA-00200: controlfile could not be created
ORA-00202: controlfile:
'/u01/app/oracle/oradata/PILOT/control01.ctl'
ORA-17502: ksfdcre:4 Failed to create file
/u01/app/oracle/oradata/PILOT/control01.ctl
ORA-17500: ODM err:A file with the same name already exists
If you use the PolyServe Oracle Disk Manager Library, refer to
“Deactivate MxODM” in the MxODM Release Notes for instructions
detailing how to temporarily deactivate MxODM before excuting the
MxDB-Oracle-HiAv PILOT creation. After the PILOT database has been
created, simply follow the instructions for reactivating MxODM.
This Oracle bug affects only DBCA database creation. Databases can be
created with the CREATE DATABASE command without incident.
Sun Bug 4255200
Certain actions in the MxDB-Oracle-HiAv Graphical User Interface will
raise modal dialog boxes with feedback to the user. These dialog boxes
often require a button click as acknowledgement of the message. If the
dialog box becomes tiled behind the GUI, the GUI will seem to be
“frozen.” If this situation occurs, it will be necessary to tile through the
windows on your display to find the modal dialog box.
