These sections provide important information concerning the proper operation of the unit. Additionally, in order to feel assured that you have gained a good grasp of every feature provided by your new unit, this manual should be read in its entirety. The manual should be saved and kept on hand as a convenient reference. Thank you for purchasing ROLAND EV-7 EXPRESSION PEDAL. ■ FEATURES • The EV-7 expression pedal is for use exclusively with keyboards, synthesizers, and organs that feature internal expression circuitry. • The EV-7 features a longer stroke than that available previous expression pedals , allowing greater dynamic expression for your performances. • The pedal includes a minimum volume setting. The minimum volumes for your performances can be set however you wish, so you may thus alter the volume control range to suit any performance. • Rubber feet allowing you to change the unit angle (three angles possible) are also included. ■ CONNECTION Minimum Volume Knob ■ CHANGING THE UNIT ANGLE 1. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the two rubber feet attached to the EV-7. 2. Using the same screws used to hold the original pair of rubber feet, attach the other included set of rubber feet. * Be sure to use only the screws that are used to hold the original pair of rubber feet. Using other screws may result in damage to the unit. 2. 3 *When connecting or while in use, do not pull or yank the cord with force, as doing so may result in breakdown. ■ OPERATING THE UNIT 1. Connect the EV-7 with the keyboard as shown in "CONNECTION." Press the pedal down as far as it goes, and set the maximum volume using the volume knobs of the keyboard. Return the position of the pedal to the highest position, and set the minimum volume by using the Minimum Volume Knob on the EV-7. 4. Do not connect it to a product not from Roland / Boss corporation, as doing so may result in breakdown. Placement •Do not expose the unit to direct sunlight, place it near devices that radiate heat, leave it inside an enclosed vehicle, or otherwise subject it to temperature extremes. Also, do not allow lighting devices that normally are used while their light source is very close to the unit (such as a piano light), or powerful spotlights to shine upon the same area of the unit for extended periods of time. Excessive heat can deform or discolor the unit. •To avoid possible breakdown, do not use the unit in a wet area, such as an area exposed to rain or other moisture. Maintenance •For everyday cleaning wipe the unit with a soft, dry cloth or one that has been slightly dampened with water. To remove stubborn dirt, use a cloth impregnated with a mild, non-abrasive detergent. Afterwards, be sure to wipe the unit thoroughly with a soft, dry cloth. Additional Precautions •Use a reasonable amount of care when using the unit's buttons, sliders, or other controls; and when using its jacks and connectors. Rough handling can lead to malfunctions. •When connecting / disconnecting all cables, grasp the connector itself—never pull on the cable. This way you will avoid causing shorts, or damage to the cable's internal elements.
