HP NetServer E 800 DAT Instruction Sheet
SureStore DAT24i Kit Contents and Description
If your HP NetServer E 800 is purchased with the HP SureStore DAT24i Tape Backup unit installed, you
will receive a kit containing the following:
• A TapeWare® CD that contains the backup software
• A SureStore CD that contains the DAT24i utilities
• One Data Cartridge and one tape drive Cleaning Cartridge
• An information insert that provides a brief overview of the One Button Disaster Recovery (OBDR)
feature
TapeWare General Installation Information
To use the TapeWare backup software, an installation must be performed. You should first run the
TapeWare CD. You will encounter a screen that gives the user the option to proceed with the installation or
make other pre-installation selections. It is highly recommended that you follow the process to make the
online Users Guide available to you during the installation process. The online guide can be launched and
kept visible while the installation is proceeding. In addition, the guide can be printed prior to beginning the
installation. Instructions are provided on how to locate, run, and print the documentation.
The documentation contains a section that provides step-by-step instructions on how to install the
TapeWare software. Embedded references to additional Help text allow you to make informed decisions
when choices are required during the install process.
The version of the TapeWare software that you received contains the required or typical set of features.
However, during installation process, you will be given the opportunity to select additional features on an
evaluation basis.
The differences between installing TapeWare as an evaluation version or using the HP typical key are as
follows:
• The Disaster Recovery option is added automatically with the HP key; however, it needs manual
inclusion if evaluation is selected.
• Full autoloader support is available on the evaluation version, whereas there is support for up to 6 slots
with the HP key. HP autoloaders support up to 6 slots; thus there will be no difference to the HP user.
• If the evaluation version is installed, then agents can be installed to NT/NW/UNIX as well as Win9X
and DOS clients, and these clients can then be backed up from the server. If it is installed using the HP
key, this feature is disabled.
For complete information regarding your choice, please consult your TapeWare Users Guide.
One Button Disaster Recovery (OBDR)
OBDR is a feature that allows you to restore your server to a working configuration by simply pressing one
button. Detailed instructions on this procedure can be found in the TapeWare Users Guide and the Help
text provided. Additional information on the benefits of OBDR and how OBDR works are described in
detail.
