12 Visualizer button The Visualizer window shows various visual effects while playing an audio file. 13 Internet button Opens or closes the Internet Panel. Software Guide Software Guide Managing audio files with SonicStage Recording from a CD You can, for example, record songs from audio CDs and import them to playlists in SonicStage. 56 nN To record a CD, proceed as follows: 1 Insert an audio CD into your system’s optical disc drive. 2 Click the Recording button ( 1) . 3 Click the CD icon as your source ( 2) . 4 Click the Music Drive icon as your target ( 3) . The RecordPanel window appears. 6 If you only want to record a few songs, click the Show List button. The list of tracks on your audio CD appears. 7 If necessary select the format and bit rate for recording by clicking the Change CD Recording Format button. 57 nN 8 You can select specific tracks on your CD by deselecting the check boxes from the tracks you do not want to record. You can clear all selected tracks by selecting the empty Select All check box, and then selecting the tracks you want to record. For each song you can determine the song title, the artist and the genre. 9 Click the Rec Selection button to begin recording. When you want to record all the songs of the audio CD to the playlist, you click the Record All button. 10 When the recording is finished, the new playlist appears in the file tree view in the right pane. Click Start to verify your optical disc drive. Once the verification is performed, recording begins. You can display the name of the CD and its songs by clicking the CD Info button and after registering with CDDB. For more information on using your external devices or media, see the documentation that came with the product. Checking out songs Checking out songs means transferring audio files from a computer to an external device ( for example, a portable player) . To check out songs, proceed as follows: 1 Connect the external device or insert the media ( for example, a MagicGate Memory Stick ™) into your computer. Your computer automatically recognises the connected external device or media and the Check-In/ Out window appears. 2 Click the Show List button to see which songs you have in the Music Drive. 3 In the Tree view on the left, select the playlist containing the song( s) to check out. 4 In the List view on the left, select the track to check out. To check out more than one song at a time, hold down the key and select additional songs. 5 If necessary, select the transfer mode for checking out. 6 Click the Check Out button or drag the song to the appropriate position in the song list of the external device or media. The checking out begins. . SonicStage does not work with the blue Memory Sticks ™. For more information, read the OpenMG manual. To cancel Check Out, click Stop, or click Cancel in the processing dialog box that is displayed during the Check Out process. This is what we call 60 nNchecking in. The songs that you transfer like this can only be checked in to the hard drive of the same computer from which the songs were checked out. To check in songs, proceed as follows: 1 Connect the external device or insert the MagicGate Memory Stick ™ into your computer. Your computer automatically recognises the connected external device or media and the Check-In/ Out window appears. 2 Click the Show List button to see which songs you have on your Memory Stick™ . 3 Select on the right- hand side the track to check in. To check in more than one song at a time, hold down the key and select additional songs. 4 If necessary, select the transfer mode for checking in. 5 Click the Check-In button.
