Description of OSM Event and Data Flow
This section lists some typical Insight Remote Support activities, describing the subsequent OSM
subsystem events in the service log ($ZLOG) and data flow that can be used to verify or check the
status of each activity. Typical activities include:
•
“NonStop System Configured for Insight Remote Support 7.3”
•
“Periodic Incident Report Created”
•
“Problem Incident Report Created”
•
“Pending Incident Report Sent”
•
“Failed Incident Report Delivery Path Removed Through OSM Action”
•
“Failed Incident Report Delivery Path Removed Automatically by OSM After Ten Days”
NonStop System Configured for Insight Remote Support 7.3
When a NonStop system has been configured for Insight Remote Support 7.3, as described in
“Installation and Configuration of Insight Remote Support 7.3”, the following takes place:
•
Insight Remote Support 7.3 subscribes for OSM incident reports.
•
OSM receives the indication subscription, along with a query for HP_AlertIndication and the
destination URL (path back to Insight Remote Support 7.3).
•
OSM generates an event 1146 with the trace message “Indication Subscription CREATING.”
The event detail also contains the query and WEBES destination, that destination being a URL
containing 7906, the Insight RS Hosting Device port used by WEBES to receive incident
reports, in the format of WBEM events, from OSM (see example below).
If two Insight RS Hosting Devices are configured, there will be an indication subscription and
event 1146 created for each, the first is labeled the Primary, the second is labeled Backup.
NOTE:
If you don't know the Insight Remote Support 7.3 destination, you can search the event
log for the most recent event 1146 with the trace message “Indication Subscription CREATING”
– and – that has a URL containing “7905,” which represents the Insight RS Hosting Device port
used by Insight Remote Support 7.3 to receive incident reports, in the format of WBEM events,
from OSM.

The first Insight RS Hosting Device configured for Insight Remote Support 7.3 is always considered
the “Primary,” as illustrated in the Trace Subject line above. When a second Insight RS Hosting
Device is configured, it is considered “Backup” and identified as such in the Trace Subject line:
"Indication Subscription CREATING (Backup)."
HPRSMain Service Restarted
When the HPRSMain service has been restarted on the Insight RS Hosting Device, subscriptions
do not reoccur. If the OSM subscription has been deleted via OSM, the subscription must be
refreshed on the devices page of Insight Remote Support 7.3.
