manual abstract

change the processor type from NSR-G to NSR-C in the CONFTEXT file,
ALLPROCESSORS statement. All other references to NSR-G are still valid. Displays or
queries will still return NSR-G for S70000 PMF CRUs. After changing the CONFTEXT file,
you must perform all required DSM/SCM requests to create a new SYSnn. Failure to change
the processor type in the new SYSnn causes an immediate %100441 halt when the new SYSnn
is loaded on G06.24. See the appropriate G06.24 or later Release Version Update Compendium
for migration and fallback details.
Note: Other requirements might include installing MSEBs in slots 51 and 52 of enclosures
1-8 (for S76000, S86000, 78000, and 88000) or changing the processor type in the CONFTEXT
file when upgrading from S7000 (affects G06.24 and later).
See specific topics for details.

PMF CRUs That Can Permanently Coexist in Mixed Systems
This table lists the combinations of PMF CRUs that can coexist in a system.
Caution: Best practices require that both PMF CRUs in an enclosure have the
same model number and memory size. An application outage can occur if:
The NonStop process pairs do not run at equivalent speeds.
q
The processors and their I/O do not run at equivalent speeds.
q
The PMF CRU that can sustain the higher transaction rate is taken offline or fails
q
when it is near maximum utilization.
Caution: Install the faster processors in the Group 1 enclosure. Otherwise, events
generated during a PMF CRU replacement or system configuration change can load
down the remaining processor in enclosure 1 if one of the two processors in Group 1
fails.
1950 (S7000)
All PMF CRUs must be S7000.
1960 (S7400)
Can coexist only with S7400, S7600, or S7800.
1961 (S7600)
1962 (S7800)
1951 (S70000) S70000 can coexist only with S72000 and S74000.
1954 (S72000)
1970 (S74000)
