Recording from a DV camcorder You can record video directly from a connected DV camcorder onto the HDD, where you can edit it easily and copy to a recordable DVD if required. B Find the footage on the DV camcorder that you want to start recording from and set the camcorder to pause mode. C Switch on the TV to the correct programme number for the recorder (e.g. ‘EXT’, ‘0’, ‘AV’). D Switch on the recorder and press DV on the remote control. • An information box will be displayed. To resume recording, press PLAY • again. • A new chapter marker is created after recording restarts. F To stop recording, press STOPC. • A new title will be created when you begin another recording. Recording from an external device (Camcorder/VCR/ DVD player) A copy protection system has been built into this recorder to prevent the transfer of data from pre-recorded DVDs or other copy protected material onto the recordable DVD. You can only store the contents in the temporary HDD storage of this recorder. Note: Set the preferred mode of record quality before proceeding, see “Before Recording - Default Recording Settings.” TUNER SOURCE PAUSE REC A Connect the external device to this recorder (See the chapter “Step 2: Optional Connections”). B Switch on the TV to the correct programme number for the recorder (e.g. ‘EXT’, ‘0’, ‘AV’). C Press STANDBY-ON 2 to switch on the recorder. • If no TV programme appears on the screen, press TUNER on the remote control. E Press RECa to start recording. • You can also press RECa repeatedly to increase the recording time in 30-minute increments. F Start playback on the connected device. • The content from the connected device will be recorded. G To stop the recording before the scheduled ending, press STOPC. Instant recording This function allows you to make a recording with a pre-determined duration without using the timer programming. A Press RECa repeatedly to toggle between recording options of 30-minute increments (30, 60 and up to 360minutes of recording). B The recorder will stop recording at the designated end time. • If you wish to stop the recording before the scheduled time, press STOPC. TIPS: Set the appropriate mode of record quality for HDD recording, the same record quality will be transferred from HDD to a recordable DVD, see “Before Recording.” 32 Record on Hard Disk (continued) Watch playback from another source during recording While recording is in progress, you can watch another TV channel or the playback from another audio/video device which is connected to this recorder. DVD HDD TV/DVD Watching playback from another device This is only possible if the recorder is connected to the TV using the EXT1 TO TV-I/O socket. • Press TV/DVD to view the picture from the device which is connected to the EXT2 AUX-I/O socket of this DVD recorder. Watching another TV channel If there is no device connected to the EXT2 AUX-I/O socket, pressing TV/DVD will switch to TV mode. • Use the TV’s remote control to change the channels. • The message “TV/LOOP” will be displayed on the recorder’s system display panel. • To switch back to recorder mode, press TV/DVD on the remote control.
