Your VTR is preset at factory. This means that all channels can be received at the program positions shown in the chart on the next page. This is achieved by selecting the desired Tuning mode. This VTR can select from among 4 tuning modes: TV, CATV, CATV H, CATV I. Preparation •Confirm that the TV is on, and the VTR viewing channel is selected. •Turn on the VTR and select the program position except A1. • Press VTR/TV to select the VTR mode. PRESET 0 8 Storing TV Channels into your VTR Fine Tuning Procedure 1 Press TUNER PRESET until a beep is heard, and then press again. 2 Press NEXT. 3 Press + or - to obtain the best tuning condition. •“A” Indicator disappears. •To return the tuning to its former state, press SHIFT. 4 Press TUNER PRESET. Blanking of Unoccupied Program Positions 1 Press TUNER PRESET until a beep is heard. 2 Select a program position which you do not want to tune to a TV station, by using + or 3 Press SHIFT. (“- is displayed.) • Repeat steps 2 and 3 for other unoccupied program positions to skip during the selection of the program positions. •To cancel the blanking of a program position, select that program position on the VTR and then press SHIFT. 4 Press TUNER PRESET twice. The built-in digital clock employs the 24-hour system. Note: The clock operates for at least 60 minutes by its backup system in the event of power failure. CLOCK SET R 10 Setting the Clock of the VTR Time Reset Function If the clock is less than two minutes slow or fast, it can easily be reset to the proper time. For example: Resetting the clock to 12:00.00. 1 Press CLOCK SET at any time between 11:58.00 and 12:01.59 until the beep is heard. 2 Press CLOCK SET again as soon as you hear the 12:00.00 time signal. Summer Time Function Setting to daylight saving time 1 Keep CLOCK SET pressed until the beep is heard. 2 Press SHIFT. •The time on the clock is advanced by 1 hour. 3 Press CLOCK SET. Returning from daylight saving time to standard time 1 Keep CLOCK SET pressed until the beep is heard. 2 Press SHIFT twice. •The time on the clock is set back by 1 hour. 3 Press CLOCK SET. 11 Setting Up Controls and Connection Sockets A »E.fCT / r....." i / /4-1 o- w O OPERATE To turn the VTR on and off. 0 EJECT To eject a video cassette. 0 Cassette Compartment Insert a video cassette here. Q CHECK/PROG To select a timer program number. “1,2, 3... or 8" is lit. To display details of preset timer recording. 0 TIMER REC To turn the timer recording function on and off. 0 is lit or not lit. Once activating timer recording function, the normal VTR operation is not possible unless this button is set to off. © PAUSE/STILL During playback: Still picture. During recording: To Interrupt recording. Q PLAY To start playback. “t>” is lit. 0 CLOCK SET To set the time. 0 STOP To stop any playback or recording. 12 Controls and Connection Sockets 0 NOISE FILTER/EDIT OFF: For normal VTR operation. NOISE FILTER ON: For playback of a cassette whose recording quality is inferior. EDIT ON: For dubbing. 0 INSERT To set up the VTR for insert editing. INSERT indicator lights up, 0 VTR/TV To select the VTR mode or TV mode. Infra-red Remote Control Receiver Window 0 AUDIO DUB To set up the VTR for audio dubbing. A.DUB indicator lights up. 0 Display 0 V A I— + To select the required program position (TV station). To set the clock and timer recording. 0 SP/SLP/NEXT To select the tape speed required for recording. SP gives the best picture quality. SLP gives the longest recording time. To p...
