manual abstract

Do not use for industrial purposes. • Use the iron only for its intended use. • The iron should always be switched off before connecting or disconnecting from the power supply. Never yank the cord to disconnect the plug from the wall socket. • Do not operate the iron with a damaged cord or plug. Never use the iron if it is damaged in any way. To avoid the risk of electrical shock, do not re-assemble the iron. Take it to qualified serviceman for examination and repair. Incorrect re-assembling can cause electrical shock when the iron is used. • If you are leaving the appliance momentarily, always switch it off, remove the plug from the wall socket and stand the iron on its base. • Take care that children cannot touch the iron when the iron is hot and make sure they cannot pull the mains cord. • To protect against the risk of electrical shock, do not immerse the iron cord or plug in water or other liquids. • Burns can occur from touching hot metal parts, hot water or steam. Be careful when you turn a steam iron upside down: there may be hot water in the tank. • Do not allow the mains cord to touch hot surface. Let the iron cool down completely before taking it away. Wind the main cord around the iron when storing. • Always disconnect the main plug from wall socket before filling the iron with water or pouring the remaining water out. • To avoid an overloaded circuit, do not operate another high wattage appliance in the same electric circuit. • If an extension cord is absolutely necessary, a 10 ampere (Europe) or 15 ampere (America) cord should be used. The cord rated for less amperage overheats. Care should be taken to arrange the cord so that it cannot be pulled or tripped over. NOTES: When using the iron for the first time, test on an old piece of fabric to ensure that the soleplate and water tank are completely clean. • The iron may smoke slightly when switched on for the first time - this is normal and will soon cease. 2 HOW TO USE YOUR IRON IRONING TEMPERATURE • Always check first to see whether a label with ironing instructions is attached to the article to be ironed. Follow these instructions in all cases. • If ironing instructions are missing but you do know the kind of fabric, then the table below may help you. • Sort the laundry out first: wool with wool, cotton with cotton, etc. Start ironing the fabrics requiring the lowest temperature and progress to the higher ones because the iron heats up quicker than it cools down. • If the fabric consists of various kinds of fibres (e.g. cotton with polyester) you must always select the lowest ironing temperature of the composition of those fibres. FILLING WITH WATER • This iron can be used with normal tap water. • If the water in your area is particularly hard, it is advisable to use distilled or demineralized water to prevent the scale forming on the critical point of the iron. • Do not use chemically de-scaled water. • Ensure that the iron is disconnected from the power supply before filling. • Turn the variable steam control to “MIN” position. • Open the water filling outlet and fill water through the water-filling aperture. • Close the water filling outlet and ensure that it is secured firmly. • Do not fill higher than indication “MAX” of the water tank, in order to avoid spilling out of water. • Do not fill with any thing but water, if you have to refill while ironing, remove the mains plug from the wall socket before filling. • Pour any remaining water out after use. SETTING THE TEMPERATURE • Insert the plug in the wall socket and stand the iron upright. • Slide the temperature control dial to the correct temperature as indicated in the ironing instructions or in the label. • The correct temperature will be reached when the indication light has gone. The indication light will be on and off from time to time indicating that the selected temperature is being maintained. LABEL TYPE OF TEXTILE /8k Do not iron this article. • Synthetics, Nylon, Acrylics, Polyester, Rayon • • Wool, Silk • •• Cotton, Linen SPRAYING • At any temperature by pressing on the spray button a couple of times, the laundry can be damped down. • Ensure that there is enough water in the water tank. • If the spray is being using for the first time or if the iron has been standing for some time, you may need to press the spray button a few times before the spray works correctly. 3 STEAM IRONING • As indicated on the temperature control dial and the temperature table, steam-ironing is only possible at higher ironing temperature: “••” or “•••” for moderate steam; “•••” or “MAX” for maximum steam. • Wait for a while until the indication to light up then go out again. • Set the steam control to the required position. • The iron will automatically begin to steam as soon as the iron is used. • If the iron is too cold, water can leak from the steam holes in the soleplate. This is not harmful to the fabric, but it will make ironing difficult. S...
