manual abstract

The appliance should be kept out of the reach of children. • Never leave in a place where the temperature might drop below freezing point. • Protect the soleplate, and NEVER run it over metal or similar surfaces, as this will damage it. • Do not fill water over the MAX marker. Do not add anything to the water. Ordinary tap water can be used. Cord and plug • Do not allow the cord to hang over the edge of a table/counter, and keep it away from hot objects and naked flames. • Check regularly that neither cord nor plug is damaged and do not use if they are, or if the appliance has been dropped or damaged in any other way. • If the appliance or plug is damaged, it must be inspected and if necessary, repaired by an authorised repair engineer, otherwise there is a risk of electric shock. Never try to repair the appliance yourself (see also Guarantee Terms). • Remove the plug from the socket after use, when cleaning, when filling the water reservoir, and when left unattended. • Avoid pulling the cord when removing the plug from the socket. Instead, hold the plug. • Check that it is not possible to pull or trip over the cord or any extension cord. • The cord must not be wound around the appliance. KEY TO MAIN COMPONENTS OF THE APPARATUS 1. Spray nozzle 2. Water reservoir cover 3. Function selector 4. Steam shot button 5. Spray button 6. Display 7. Handle 8. Power cable with ball joint 9. Thermostat and indicator lamps 10. Temperature control dial 11. MAX water level mark 12. Soleplate UK PRIOR TO FIRST USE • Remove the protective film from the soleplate (12). • Heat to maximum temperature and run over a damp cloth or similar for a few minutes before using on clothes. • Some parts of the appliance were oiled during manufacture and these will therefore smoke slightly when the iron is first used. This is entirely safe, and the smoke will disappear once the appliance has been used a few times. USE Filling with water (only for steam ironing) • Disconnect from mains and turn the thermostat dial (10) to MIN (if the appliance has been connected). • Remove water reservoir filler cover (2) (see picture), and fill water to the MAX mark (11). • Close the water reservoir cover. Setting the temperature • Push function button (3) to b. (see illustration below). • Select the required iron temperature using the temperature control dial: Setting Temperature Use • 80-120 .C Synthetic fabrics (nylon, polyester, acrylic, etc.) •• 120-160 .C Wool, silk or blends ••• 160-205 .C Cotton or linen • Stand appliance upright. Plug in and switch the power on. o The orange thermostat lamp (9) will light and the display (6) will show current temperature. • Do not start ironing until the thermostat light (9) goes out. o The thermostat light switches on and off during ironing, as the thermostat regulates the temperature of the appliance. o If you turn the temperature up using the temperature control dial the thermostat lamp will light. Do not continue ironing until it goes out. Steam ironing Steam ironing is only possible at high temperatures. Do not use steam ironing when the temperature control dial is at position •. If you do, water runs out from the soleplate, because the appliance is not hot enough to convert all water to steam. • Check that there is sufficient water in the reservoir. • Turn the thermostat button the required position (at least •• ), and wait until the light goes out. • Push the function selector backwards or forwards to select steam setting (see picture). You can choose between the following settings: a. Automatic cleaning (see ‘Cleaning’ section) b. No steam (not visible on picture) c. Minimum steam d. Maximum steam The appliance produces continuous steam from the soleplate at settings c. and d. Start steam ironing. o Push the function selector to setting b to switch to dry ironing. Spray function This function moistens the item you are ironing when you want to remove creases. • Press the spray button (5). The appliance pumps spray from the spray nozzle (1). Dry ironing Dry ironing uses the same method as steam, but the function selector should be in position b. Steam shot function The steam shot function can be used to remove dirt or folds from hanging clothes, curtains etc. • Set the function selector to maximum steam (setting d.). • Hold the appliance vertical close to the material to be ironed and press the steam shot button (4). Tip! • Always stand the appliance upright when taking a break from ironing! • Always check the ironing instructions in the clothes before commencing ironing. Always follow the instructions. • Start with clothes that require the lowest temperature and turn up the heat as required. • Always iron synthetic fabrics and silk on the reverse side. This prevents shiny spots on the fabric. • Wool products (100% wool) can be pressed when the appliance is set to steam mode. We recommend using the setting for maximum steam (d.), with a layer of dry fabric between the iron and the item to ironed. Auto shut-of...
