Never yank cord to disconnect from outletjinstead, grasp plug and pull to disconnect. 4.Do not allow cord to touch hot surfaces.Let iron cool completely before putting away.Loop cord loosely around iron when storing. 5.Always disconnect iron from electrical outlet when filling with water or emptying and when not in use. 6.Do not operate iron with a damaged cord or if the iron has been dropped or damaged. To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not disassemble the iron, take it to a qualified serviceman for examination and repair. Incorrect reassembly can cause a risk of electric shock when the iron is used. 7.Close supervision is necessary for any appliance being used by or near children.Do not leave iron unattended while connected or on an ironing board. 8.Burns can occur from touching hot metal parts, hot water,or steam. Use caution when you turn a steam iron upside down-there may be hot water in the reservoir. 9.If the malfunction indicator goes on,the flatiron is not operating normally. Disconnect from the power supply and have the flatiron serviced by qualified service personnel. SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS 10.To avoid a circuit overload,do not operate another high wattage appliance on the same circuit. II .If an extension cord is absolutely necessary,a 10-ampere cord should be used. Cords rated for less amperage may overheat.Care should be taken to arrange the cord so that it cannot be pulled or tripped over. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING IRON Remove any labels from soleplate and wipe any manufacturing residue from soleplate and soleplate vents using a soft cloth and cotton swab. HOWTO USE IRON Filling Water Tank If you plan on using Steam features, fill water tank as follows: 1 1. Unplug iron from electrical outlet and set iron on heel rest on a stable level surface. 2. Turn temperature dial counterclockwise until V lines up with OFF. 3. Using a measuring cup, tip iron slightly and fill tank through the water fill hole. CAUTION: Never fill with anything else but water. Steam Pressing 1. Fill water tank. 2. Plug iron into electrical outlet. 3. Turn steam system dial to desired level. NOTE: Be sure to check the garment label for instructions. Some fabrics may be damaged when exposed to steam or water. 4. Turn the temperature dial clockwise until the Vfalls within the stream range - WOOUCOTTON/LINEN. NOTE: Be sure to check the garment label fof fiber content and set for the fiber requiring the lowest temperature. 5. Set iron on heel rest and wait until ready light turns on indicating the soleplate has reached the desired temperature 6. When you are finished ironing, turn temperature dial counterclockwise to OFF and unplug from electrical outlet. Dry Pressing 1. Plug into electrical outlet. 2. Turn the system dial to minimum 3. Turn temperature dial clockwise until the V lines up with the desired fabric setting. NOTE: Be sure to check the garment label for fiber content and set for the fiber requiring the lowest temperature. 4. Set iron on heel rest and wait until ready light turns on indicating the soleplate has reached the desired temperature. 5. When you are finished ironing, turn temperature dial counterclockwise to OFF and unplug from electrcal outlet. 2 Ready Light The ready light shows the status of the soleplate temperature compared to the temperature dial setting. The light will come on when: • The soleplate has reached the selected temperature. NOTE: If you turned the temperature dial to a lower setting, wait until the ready light goes out and comes back on before setting. This will assure you that the soleplate has cooled to the new lower temperature. The light will go out when: • When the temperature dial has been set for a higher temperature. • When the soleplate has cooled during ironing and the temperature is increasing to the set temperature. CARE AND CLEANING To extend the life and maintain the performance of your iron follow these steps: Draining and Storing Iron 1. Turn temperature dial to OFF and unplug iron from electrical outlet. 2. With sole plate facing away from you, carefully turn iron upside down over sink to empty water. CAUTION: Water tank may be hot. Avoid contact with water an steam. 3. Once all the water has been drained in Step 2, hold iron over sink with the soleplate facing down, Remaining drops of water will drain through the soleplate vents. Place the hot iron on its heel rest so that any remaining moisture will evaporate. 4. Do not store iron until the soleplate is completely cool. 5. Loop cord loosely around iron when storing. POLARIZED PLUG: Some models have a 2-prong polarized plug,(one blade is wider than the other). As a safety feature to reduce the risk of electrical shock, this plug is intended to fit in a polarized outlet only one way.If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug.If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to defeat this safety featrue. 3 FEATURE...
