Hold thehandrails and begin walking. Each workout is divided into one-minute segments. One speed setting and one incline setting are programmed for each segment. Note: The same speedsetting and/or incline setting may be programmed forconsecutive segments. During the workout, the profile will show yourprogress. The flashing segment of the profile represents the current segment of the workout. Theheight of the flashing segment indicates the speed setting for the current segment. Atthe end of each segment, a seriesof tones will sound and the new Current Segment speed and incline settings will flash in the display to alert you. The workout will continue in this way until the lastsegment of the profile flashes in the display andthe last segment ends. The walking belt will thenslow to a stop. If the speed or incline setting for the current segment is too high or too low, you can manually override the setting by pressing the Speed or Inclinebuttons; however, when the current segment ofthe workout ends, the treadmill will automati- cally adjust to the speed and incline settings forthe next segment. To stop the workout at any time, press the Stopbutton. To restart the workout, press the Start button or the Speed increase button. The walking beltwill begin to move at 1 mph. When the next segment of the workout begins, the treadmill will automatically adjust to the speed and incline settings forthat segment. 5. Follow your progress with the display. See step 6 on page 15. 6. Measure your heart rate if desired. See step 7 on page 15. 7. Turn on the fan if desired. See step 8 on page 15. 8. When you are finished exercising, remove thekey from the console. See step 9 on page 15. 19 THE INFORMATION MODE The console features an information mode that keepstrack of treadmill usage information. The informationmode also allows you to select miles or kilometers asthe unit of measurement and to turn on and turn off the demo mode. To select the information mode, hold down the Stopbutton, insert the key into the console, and then releasethe Stop button. When the information mode is selected, the following information will appear in the display: The center of the display will showthe number of hours that the treadmill has been operated. The lower rightcorner of the dis play will show the total number of miles or kilometersthat the walking belt has moved. In addition, an E for English miles or an M for metric kilometers will appearin the right side of the display. To change the unit ofmeasurement, press the Speed increase button. The console features a display demo mode, designedto be used if the treadmill is displayed in a store. Whilethe demo mode is turned on, the console will function normally when you plug in the power cord, switch thereset/off circuit breaker to the reset position, and insertthe key into the console. However, when you removethe key, the displays will remain lit, although the buttons will not function. If the demo mode is turned on, a d will appear in the display while the information modeis selected. To turn on or turn off the demo mode, pressthe Speed decrease button. Note: If you press the Display button while in the information mode, the display may appear very dim, verydark, or blank. If this happens, press the Display buttonrepeatedly until the display looks right. To exit the information mode, remove the key from theconsole. HOW TO USE THE STEREO SOUND SYSTEM To play music or audio books through the console sstereo speakers, you must connect your MP3 player, CD player, or other personal audio player to the console through the audio jack. To use the audio jack, locate the included audio wireand plug it into the audio jack. Then, plug the audiowire into a jack on your MP3 player, CD player, orother personal audio player. Make sure that the audio wire is fully inserted. Next, press the Play button on your MP3 player, CDplayer, or other personal audio player. Adjust the volume on your personal audio player. If you are using a personal CD player and the CDskips, set the CD player on the floor or another flat surface instead of on the console. THE OPTIONAL CHEST PULSE SENSOR An optional chest pulse sensor offers hands-free operation as it tracks your heart rate during your workouts. To purchase the optional chest pulse sensor, callthe telephone number on the front cover of thismanual. 20 HOW TO FOLD AND MOVE THE TREADMILL HOW TO FOLD THE TREADMILL FOR STORAGE Before folding the treadmill, adjust the incline to thelowest position. If you do not do this, you may damage thetreadmill when you fold it. Next, unplug the power cord. CAUTION: You must be able to safely lift 45 lbs. (20 kg) toraise, lower, or move the treadmill. 1. Hold the metal frame firmly in the location shown by thearrow at the right. CAUTION: To decrease the possibilityof injury, do not lift the frame by the plastic foot rails.
