3. Place bread slices/foods in the slots, and press the Control Lever down until it clicks. The self-adjusting bread guides will automatically adjust to hold thick or thin slices in place. 4. Selected models have a bagel setting (A) that will toast bagels and English muffins crisp on the inside and soft and warm on the outside. This setting also works well for frosted toaster pastries. To use, move the Toast/Bagel lever to Bagel, then place the cut side of the bagel or English muffin in the toaster with the cut side toward the inside of the toaster. For frosted toaster pastries, place the non-frosted side toward the inside of the toaster. 5. Toasted items will pop up automatically at the end of the cycle. 6. IMPORTANT for any model: If food becomes jammed, unplug toaster and move the Control Lever up and down a few times to raise "jammed" food. 7. To interrupt toasting at any time, lift up the Control Lever. Care and Cleaning Always unplug the cord from the electrical outlet and allow the toaster to cool before cleaning. Do not immerse the toaster in water. Crumb Tray Grasp the handle at the back of the toaster and pull out the Crumb Tray (B). Note: The 4-slice models have 2 crumb trays. Dispose of crumbs and wash the Tray in warm, sudsy water. You can remove stubborn spots with a nylon mesh pad. Be sure to dry thoroughly before sliding the Tray back into the Toaster. Cleaning the Outside Surfaces Allow the toaster to cool completely before cleaning. Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth or sponge and dry with a paper towel. Do not use strong cleaners or abrasives that may scratch surfaces and never spray cleaners directly onto the toaster.
