QUICK MENU • You can select the “TV MODE” or “DOLBY DIGITAL” from the QUICK menu quickly. To access the QUICK menu, select “QUICK” instead of “CUSTOM” at step 1. • Shaded buttons are used for following operation. You can change the DVD player’s settings. CUSTOM MENU 1 In stop mode, press [SETUP] twice, [L] to select “CUSTOM” then press [ENTER]. SETUP LANGUAGE AUDIO SUBTITLE DISC MENU ORIGINAL OFF ENGLISH ENTER AUDIO: Sets the audio language. SUBTITLE: Sets the subtitle language. DISC MENU: Sets the language for DVD menu. 4 Press [K] or [L] to select a setting then press [ENTER]. OFF ENGLISH FRENCH SETUP LANGUAGE ENGLISH FRENCH SPANISH SETUP LANGUAGE ORIGINAL ENGLISH FRENCH SETUP LANGUAGE ENTER • If “OTHER” is selected on the “AUDIO”, “SUBTITLE” or “DISC MENU” screen, press four-digit number to enter the code for the desired language. (Refer to page 31.) • Only the languages supported by the disc can be selected. 5 Press [SETUP] to exit the menu. SETUP NOTE • Language Setting for Audio and Subtitle are not valid for some discs due to default setting of the disc. In this case, set them by pressing [AUDIO] and [SUBTITLE]. (Refer to page 25.) • If you select a language that is not supported by the disc, subtitle will automatically be set OFF and the first item of the audio languages will be automatically set. TV MODE 4:3 LETTER BOX STILL MODE AUTO SETUP DISPLAY ENTER TV MODE: QUICK You can change certain aspects of the DVD display screens and on-screen messages on the TV screen. SETUP TV MODE 4:3 LETTER BOX STILL MODE AUTO DISPLAY • 4:3 LETTER BOX (default): To show black bars on top and bottom of the screen. • 4:3 PAN & SCAN: To show a full height picture with both sides trimmed. STILL MODE: This function allows you to adjust picture resolution and quality in the still mode. SETUP TV MODE 4:3 LETTER BOX STILL MODE AUTO DISPLAY • AUTO (default): Automatically select the best resolution setting (FRAME or FIELD) based on the data characteristics of the pictures. • FIELD: Select “FIELD” when the pictures are still unstable even if “AUTO” is selected. DRC (Dynamic Range Control): DRC ON DOWN SAMPLING ON DOLBY DIGITAL BITSTREAM SETUP AUDIO • To compress the range of soft to loud sound. • The default setting is “ON”. DOWN SAMPLING: DRC ON DOWN SAMPLING ON DOLBY DIGITAL BITSTREAM SETUP AUDIO • ON : Output in 48 kHz. (default) • OFF : Output the original sound. When playing disc with copyright protection • If you select “OFF”, copyright protection will be activated and sound will be down sampled at 48kHz. DOLBY DIGITAL: QUICK Set to “BITSTREAM” when the unit is connected to a Dolby Digital Decoder. DRC ON DOWN SAMPLING ON DOLBY DIGITAL BITSTREAM SETUP AUDIO • BITSTREAM: Output a Dolby Digital signal (default) • PCM: Convert the Dolby Digital to PCM (2 channel stereo) 4 Press [SETUP] to exit the menu. SETUP DVD SECTION CHANGING THE DVD SET UP ITEMS – 29 – EN FIELD stabilizes the pictures, although the pic- ture quality may become coarse due to the limit- ed amount of data. • FRAME: Select “FRAME” to display relati motionless pictures in higher resolution.
