ACTUATE (TOOL) — To cause movement to the tool’s component(s) intended to drive the fastener. ACTUATION SYSTEM — The use of a trigger, work contact element (WCE) and/ or other operating control, separately or in combination or sequence, to actuate the tool. AIR INLET — The opening in which the compressed air supply is connected, usually by means of a threaded fitting. L-CLEATS — A type of fastener used to fasten tongue and groove hardwood flooring (see Figure 8). MAGAZINE — The part of the nailer that holds the L-Cleats and staples (see Figure 10). MAXIMUM AIR PRESSURE — The maximum allowable pressure of compressed air, as specified by the manufacture, for operating the tool. PRESSURE REGULATOR — a valve that automatically cuts off the flow of a liquid or gas at a certain pressure, usually for the purpose of preventing damage to the tool. psi (POUNDS PER SQUARE INCH) —Measurement of the pressure exerted by the force of the air. The actual psi output is measured by a pressure gauge on the compressor. QUICK COUPLER — A quick coupler is designed to work in combination with a quick plug to quickly and easily join a pneumatic tool to an air hose (see Figure 6). QUICK PLUG — A quick plug is designed to work in combination with a quick coupler to quickly and easily join a pneumatic tool to an air hose (see Figure 7). RACKING — Racking is the process of laying out the floor before it is nailed or stapled. REGULATOR — A device used to control air pressure to an air operated tool STAPLES — A type of fastener used to fasten tongue and groove hardwood flooring (see Figure 9). THREAD LOCK GLUE — A locking glue that is applied to the screw threads before installing. Prevents the screws from working loose during tool operation. Refer to “Changing Shoe Plates” on page 10 for detailed instructions on how to change the shoe plate. Assembly (Continued) SHoe Plate SIzeS There are two shoe plates included with this tool. The thin plate (1/4 inch) is for use on 3/4 inch thick hardwood flooring. The thick plate (5/16 inch) is for use on 1/2 inch thick hardwood flooring and 5/8 inch bamboo flooring. To prevent damage to the flooring, use Plate Thickness Flooring Thickness 1/4 inch 3/4 inch 5/16 inch 1/2 inch and 5/8 inch Shoe Plate Screws 4 mm wrench UP position Chart 1 the correct shoe for the flooring being installed. See Chart 1. toolS requIred For CHaNgINg SHoe PlateS u 4 mm Hex Wrench (supplied) u Threadlock Glue CHaNgINg SHoe PlateS 1. Disconnect the air supply from nailer. 2. Using provided 4 mm wrench, remove the three shoe screws (see Figure 11). 3. Remove shoe plate; place new or alternate shoe. Make sure shoe is in the “UP” position when attaching. 4.
