PLATE CHOICE Select the set of plates best suited to the style that you require (straight, gentle or heavy wave). Remove the plates installed on the appliance (the top one and the bottom one) by pressing the button (7) down gently and sliding it back, as shown in figure 1. Next, install the selected set of plates (the reverse order of the above), insert the bottom part of the plate first and press down on it until it locks into position, figure 2. Remember that the plate with the holes in it has to be fitted at the top. Attention: The appliance must be unplugged and cold before changing the plates. USE Place the iron down on a flat, heat-resistant surface, plug it into the mains supply and switch it to the desired setting. Select position 1 for medium temperature and position 2 for high temperature, figure 3. Your hair iron will be ready for use after a few minutes. To speed up the heating process it is best to keep both plates touching, i.e. in the closed position. Use the lock button on the bottom of the appliance to do this. Figure 4. STRAIGHTENING TECHNIQUE Heat treatment should only be applied to healthy hair. It is not recommended for weak hair or hair that has been recently bleached, as this may have weakened it. Use the hot plates on dry hair. Heat applied to damp hair may damage the hair’s capillary fibres. Use a hairdryer after washing your hair to ensure that it is dry. There is a wide variety of gels and foams available on the market for use prior to straightening, these will make straightening easier and protect the hair. Once the iron has reached temperature, divide the hair into strands, select one strand of hair and place it between the plates. Hold the plates closed for a few seconds, pulling downward from the roots to the tip, in a single even movement. The strand of hair should be kept straight when doing this to prevent it from becoming wavy. It may be necessary to repeat this procedure two or three times on medium-length or long hair. When somebody else is helping you with the straightening, the wide support area (5) will help them to keep the plates closed together. Repeat the procedure with the rest of the hair, working strand by strand. STEAM FU...
