• Only connect the appliance to the voltage stated on the rating plate. • For additional protection, the installation of a residual current device (RCD) having a rated residual operating current not exceeding 30 mA is advisable in the electrical circuit supplying the bathroom. Ask an electrician for further information. • The ON/OFF switch must be switched off when plugging the appliance in or unplugging it. • Unplug after every use or if defective. • NEVER IMMERSE THE APPLIANCE INTO WATER OR ANY OTHER LIQUID. • WARNING: Do not use the appliance near water. • WARNING: Do not use this appliance near bathtubs, showers, basins or other vessels containing water. • Never allow the appliance to touch water. Even a switched off appliance poses a danger; unplug the appliance after every use or when interrupted during use. • When the appliance is used in a bathroom, unplug it after use since the proximity of water presents a hazard even when the appliance is switched off. • Do not handle the appliance if your hands or feet are wet. • Do not operate the appliance with the cable still coiled. • This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. • ATTENTION: Children, persons insensitive to heat or persons with a reduced sensitivity to heat may not realize when too much heat directed towards their skin. This may cause burns. • Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. • Never unplug it by tugging on the mains cable. • Before cleaning the appliance, make sure that the appliance is unplugged. • Do not switch the appliance on if the power cord or plug is damaged or if you suspect that the appliance is not working correctly. • The cable must not be replaced by the user. Cable repairs and replacements must be carried out exclusively by an Authorized Technical Service Centre. • The power cord should not -touch hot parts -be pulled over sharp edges -be used as a carrying handle. • The heating plates stay hot during use, so avoid touching them and avoid any skin contact. • The heating plates become hot. Hold the appliance only by its grip handles. • After using the hair straightener, let it cool down to avoid burning your fingers. • Do not use if hair is wet. • Do not use on fake hair. • Place the appliance on heat-resistant surfaces only. OPERATION • Plug in the appliance and place on a level, heat-resistant surface. • Turn on with switch 1: the red indicator lamp will light up. • The hair straightener now heats up and is ready for use after approx. 50 seconds. Note: The appliance can be operated at voltages between 100 V and 240 V. The time it takes for the appliance to heat up can vary depending on the voltage. Use Risk of burns! Never allow appliance to come into contact with skin (scalp or ears). You can use the hair straightener to straighten or curl your hair. – Only use the appliance on dry hair. – Only use on untreated, healthy hair or in combination with special straightening products. – Use less frequently on chemically treated hair (perm, colour rinse). Note: Fine hair responds particularly quickly to the treatment with the heating plates. The even heat emission of the heating plates is especially gentle on the hair. The result is smooth hair with an intensive, silky shine. Important: Never apply in one place for longer than 2 seconds. Straightening your hair (Figure A) The appliance is suitable for both long and short hair. • Comb the hair and section it into even strands. • Starting from the roots, place a strand of hair between the plates (Figure a). • Press the plates together and pull down gently and evenly toward the ends of the hair (Figure b). • Treat all strands in the same manner. Allow hair to cool completely before styling. Tip: For shoulder-length hair, each strand should take about 10 seconds. Curling your hair (Figures B and C) There are two methods for curling hair. In all cases, the hair should be sectioned into even strands. The finer the strand, the tighter the curl. Curling with volume in the entire hair • Hold the hair straightener level, place the strand of hair between the heating plates and close them. • Turn the straightener 180° and wrap the strand once around the upper heating plate. • Press the plates firmly together and pull the straightener down to the ends of the hair at a steady pace. • Now open the plates.
