4 Use the MULTI CONTROL % / fi (or the % / fi keys) to select the "MIDNIGHT2", "MIDNIGHT1" or "OFF" setting. 1 "MIDNIGHT2": Large effect Suitable for late-night use. 2 "MIDNIGHT1": Medium effect 3 "OFF" . The adjustment item is displayed for approximately 20 seconds. . Some DOLBY DIGITAL or DTS software may not be compatible with the Midnight mode. 5 Press the SOUND key again to return to the input indication. Display dimmer adjustment The dimmer function lets you select the brightness of the receiver's display. You might find this useful if you darken your room to watch movies or listen to music. Each time you press the DIMMER key, the display’s brightness changes among the three available settings. Select the brightness level you find most pleasing. 1 Bright 2 Dark 3 Dark (LEDs on the receiver are also OFF.) Sleep timer The sleep timer function turns the receiver OFF (to the standby mode) automatically when the set timer period has elapsed. The sleep timer period can be set in 10-minute steps up to 90 minutes. Press the SLEEP key repeatedly until the desired period before turning the receiver OFF (standby mode) is displayed. . Each press increments the sleep timer period by 10 minutes. 10 = 20 = 30 .....70 = 80 = 90 = Cancel = 10 = 20 = ... The sleep timer indicator lights up . Pressing the SLEEP key after the sleep timer has started allows you to check the remaining time period. . To cancel the sleep timer, turn the receiver OFF (standby mode) or press the SLEEP key repeatedly until the Sleep timer indicator disappears. 38 EN Basic remote control operations for other components The remote control supplied with this receiver is also capable of controlling components from a variety of manufacturers once you register the appropriate setup codes into the remote control unit. Low battery warning Replace all two batteries with new ones when you notice a shortening of the distance from which the remote control will operate. The remote control is designed to retain setup codes in memory while you change batteries. Registering setup codes for other components When the setup code defined for remote control of every system component is registered in one of the input selector keys of the remote control unit, you can control that component simply after selecting it using the corresponding input selector key of the remote control unit. . When recording audio on a VCR or MD recorder, for example, you can also control the system component by switching only the remote control unit, without switching the input source of the receiver. If the component does not function properly: If more than one setup code is listed for the component, try registering another setup code by performing steps 3 to 5. .
