-Switch off the appliance when you recharge it. -Always use the vacuum cleaner with the filter unit assembled. -To avoid the risk of electric shock, be careful when you drill holes in the wall to attach the charger, especially close to a wall socket. -Charge, store and use the appliance at a temperature between 5°C and 35°C. -Do not dismantle or shor t-circuit the batteries. Protect the batteries from fire, heat and direct sunlight. English Electromagnetic fields (EMF) This Philips appliance complies with all standards regarding electromagnetic fields (EMF). If handled properly and according to the instructions in this user manual, the appliance is safe to use based on scientific evidence available today. preparing for use installing the charger 1 Attach the charger to the wall as shown in the figure. (Fig. 2) If you attach the charger to the wall, the space between the screw holes has to be 12cm. 2 3 You can also place the charger on a horizontal surface (e.g. a tableor desk) (Fig. 3). Wind excess mains cord around the reel in the back of the charger and pass the cord through the slot (Fig. 4). Charging the appliance Make sure the appliance is switched off. Put the adapter in the wall socket. Place the vacuum cleaner on the charger (Fig. 5). Charge the appliance for at least 16 hours before you use it for the first time. 1 2 3 -Make sure you place the opening in the back of the vacuum cleaner on the hook of the charger (Fig. 6). The charging light goes on to indicate that the appliance , is charging (Fig. 7). Note:The charging light stays on as long as the appliance is in the plugged-in charger. Note:The charging light does not give any information about the battery charge level of the vacuum cleaner. Push the on/off slide backwards to switch off the appliance (Fig. 9). using the car cord With the car cord, you can connect the vacuum cleaner to the cigarette lighter socket in your car.You can use it as long as necessar y without having to recharge it. 1 Insert the small plug of the car cord into the car cord socket of theappliance.Then insert the car plug into the cigarette lighter socket of your car. Note:The car cord cannot be used to charge the appliance. 2 Press the button on the small plug to detach the car cord from theappliance. Caution:To prevent damage, do not pull the small plug out of the appliance without pressing the button. accessories The appliance comes with the following accessories: -a small and large brush tool to clean delicate surfaces; -a long and shor t crevice tool to vacuum corners or narrow gaps; -a car cord with car plug for unlimited runtime; -a hose for extended reach; -a storage bag to store the appliance in your car. 1 2 Take the accessory you want to use from the charger. Attach the accessory to the nozzle of the appliance (Fig. 10). 10 English hose This appliance comes with a hose and tube for extended reach during vacuum cleaning. 1 2 Insert the appliance end of the hose into the nosepiece of theappliance (Fig. 11). Attach the brush tool or the crevice tool to the attachment end of the hose for extended reach during vacuum cleaning (Fig. 12). Cleaning Never immerse the vacuum cleaner or the charger in water or anyother liquid. Always remove the adapter from the wall socket before you clean the charger. 1 2 Clean the outside of the appliance and the charger with a dampcloth. If the contact points of the charger are dirty, wipe them with a drycloth. Emptying and cleaning the dust compartment Make sure you empty and clean the dust compar tment regularly. Quick cleaning To empty the dust compar tment quickly: 1 2 1 Press the nozzle release button (1) and take the detachable nozzleoff the appliance (2) (Fig. 13). Shake the contents of the dust compartment out into a dustbin (Fig. 14). thorough cleaning Hold the appliance over a dustbin, press the dust compartmentrelease button (1) and remove the dust compartment (2) (Fig. 15). English 11 2 3 4 5 6 Remove the filter unit from the dust compartment (Fig. 16). Empty the dust compartment by shaking it with your free hand (Fig. 17). If necessary, clean the dust compartment with a damp cloth. If necessary, clean the filter unit. See section ‘Cleaning the filterunit’. To reattach the dust compartment, align the slot on the dustcompartment with the projection on the appliance. First attach the bottom of the dust compartment (1).Then push the top of the dustcompartment towards the appliance (2) until it locks into place(‘click’) (Fig. 18). Cleaning the filter unit Make sure you clean the filter unit regularly. 1 Turn the outer filter anticlockwise (1) and remove it from the filter holder (2) (Fig. 19). Leave the inner filter attached to the filter holder. 2 Clean the inner filter and the outer filter with a brush or with a normal vacuum cleaner if they are very dirty.
