The example below (TV) instructs you how to do this.You can repeat the same steps for other devices (DVD player/recorder or VCR) which you want to operate using the SRU 5120. Example of TV: 2 1 Turn your TV on manually or use the original remote control. Tune to channel 1. Press the TV key to select TV. • The key lights up. 2 • If the key does not light up, check whether the batteries are properly inserted (see ‘2.1 Inserting the batteries’). 2 3 Check whether all the keys are working. For an overview of the keys and their functions see ‘3. Keys and functions’. • If the TV responds as it should to all of the key commands the SRU 5120 is ready for use. 3 Tip 3 If the device does not respond at all or not to all of the key commands, follow the instructions under ‘2.3 Setting the remote control’, or for online setup go to: 2.3 Setting the remote control This is only necessary if your device does not respond to the SRU 5120. If that is the case, the SRU 5120 does not recognize the brand and/or model of your device and you need to program the remote control to do so. The example below (TV) instructs you how to do this. You can repeat the same steps for other devices (DVD player/ recorder or VCR) which you want to operate using the SRU 5120. 4 Installing the remote control Example of TV: 2 1 Turn on the TV manually or use the original remote control. Tune in to channel 1. Look up the brand of your TV in the code list at the back of this manual. A four-figure code is shown for each brand. Note the code for your brand. 4 4 3 Be careful! There are separate tables for TV, DVD and VCR. Make sure you use the codes from the correct table. Press the TV key until it flashes twice and then remains lit. 5 Then enter the code noted in step 2 using the numeric keys. 5 4 6 6 • The TV key now flashes twice. • If the key flashes once for an extended period, the code has not been entered properly or the wrong code has been entered. Start again from step 2. Press and hold the Stand-by key of the SRU 5120 until your TV switches off (stand-by). Then release the key immediately. 5 7 7 ENGLISH • The SRU 5120 is now set to operate your TV. Installing the remote control 5 ENGLISH 6 7 Check if you can operate all functions on your TV with the SRU 5120. • If a key does not function properly, keep it pressed until it works. Then release the key immediately. Repeat this for every key that does not work. • If the TV responds to all of the key commands, the SRU 5120 is ready for use. Do not forget to note your code. Keep the TV key pressed for 5 seconds to exit setup mode. 8 • When no key is pressed for 2 minutes or more the remote control will exit setup mode automatically. When setting the remote control for other devices, be sure to enter and exit setup mode with the appropriate mode key. DVD for DVD player/ recorder and VCR. Full search setup If your code does not work or if the brand of your device is not mentioned in the code list, you can try setting the remote control with full search setup. 1 Press the mode key of the device you wish to set up the remote control for. E.g. the TV key. Press the key until it flashes twice and then remains lit. 9 9 2 Press and hold the Stand-by key of the SRU 5120 until your TV switches off (stand-by). Then release the key immediately. 10 10 • The SRU 5120 is now set to operate your TV.
