1 Power off the DuraStor 312R. See Powering Off on page 3-23. 2 Loosen the two thumb screws that secure the SAF-TE controller card to the storage enclosure. 3 Grasp the thumb screws and gently pull the SAF-TE controller card from the storage enclosure. 4 Align the replacement card with the rail guides of the open bay and push gently but firmly until the card seats completely. See Figure 5-10. 5 Tighten the thumb screws. (Do not overtighten.) 6 Set the switch settings. Refer to the note you made before step 1. 7 Power on the DuraStor 312R. Replacing the SAF-TE Controller Card Replacing the DuraStor 312R Chassis Warning: Drives and printed circuit board components are sensitive to electrostatic discharge. To prevent damage, establish a ground for yourself by using a wrist grounding strap, or by touching the metal chassis prior to handling the disk drives or printed circuit board components. Removing the Defective Enclosure 1 Power off the host computer. 2 Power off the DuraStor 312R. See Powering Off on page 3-23. Note: Note the location of the data cables, disk drives, and interface cards, and the switch settings on the SAF-TE controller card, prior to disconnecting or removing these items. Tag the cables and disk drives appropriately to make reinstallation easier. 3 Remove each of the interface cards. See Replacing the SAF-TE Controller Card on page 5-13 and Replacing the Disk I/O Card on page 5-12. 4 Disconnect the SCSI data cables and power cords. Warning!Damage will occur if Fan Module is removed for more than five minutes. Note: Remember to mark or tag the disk drives carefully. They must be installed in the replacement storage enclosure in exactly the same position. 8 Remove each disk drive, noting its position.
