The unit complies with the safety regulations according to VDE0860/BS 415 and thus with the international safety regulations according to IEC 65. The typeplate is located on the base of the set. Warning CLASS 1 LASER PRODUCT means that the laser's construction makes it inherently safe so that the legally prescribed maximum permissible radiation values can never be exceeded. CAUTION Using any equipment or devices other than those described and specified in these operating instructions, or tampering with the unit in any way, can result in dangerous exposure to radiation. 14 Power supply Mains adapter (supplied) 1 Make sure that the local voltage corresponds to the voltage of the adapter. 2 Connect the supplied mains adapter (6 V/600 mA Direct Current, plus-pole to the center pin) to the player's 6 V DC jack and to the wall outlet. • Always disconnect the adapter if you are not using it. Batteries, type R6, UM3 or AA (optional) Open the battery compartment and insert four rechargeable Nlckel-Cadmium batteries or alkaline batteries. Approx. playing times under normal conditions: - Alkaline batteries: 8 hours - Nickel-Cadmium batteries: 3 hours Remove the batteries if they are emply or the CD player is not to be used for a long time. Note: In the top right comer of the display the battery condition will be indicated: - Weak alkaline batteries: ('full’symbol) flashes. This symbol is not available when nickel-cadmlum batteries are used. - Empty alkaline or nickel-cadmium batteries: cz ('empty1 symbol) Hashes and the message bAtt appears. Recharging of Grundig Ni-Cad batteries on board The batteries are automatically recharged when the mains adapter is connected and the set is switched off. -* Display indication during charging: CHARGE and ® . Approx. charging time: 7 hours. Notes: - When using Nickel-Cadmium batteries, we advise to use the Grundig batteries, as conventional Nickel-Cadmium batteries cannot be recharged on board. - To ensure a long life for your Nickel-Cadmium batteries, charging will automatically be interrupted at high ambient temperatures (e.g. in a car during summer). 15 Connections Connecting the headphones • Connect the supplied headphones (16-32 ohms, 3.5 mm jack plug) with the REMOTE 0 jack.
