REPEAT/CLOCK Button 7 OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS SETTING THE CLOCK 1 2 3 While the unit is off (the clock appears in the display), press the STOP (n)/TIME SET/ POWER OFF button; the hour digit(s) will blink in the display. To set the hour, press the TIME-/ TUNING/SKIP/SEARCH o button 1 to decrease and/or the TIME +/ TUNING/SKIP/SEARCH n button 2 to increase the hour. Press and hold either button for rapid searching. When the hour is set, press the STOP (n)/TIME SET/POWER OFF button again; the minute digits will blink in the display. 4 5 To set the minute, press the TIME -/TUNING/SKIP/SEARCH o button 1 to decrease and/or the TIME +/TUNING/SKIP/ SEARCH n button 2 to increase the minute. Press and hold either button for rapid searching. When the minute is set, press the STOP (n)/TIME SET/POWER OFF button again; the clock will be set and the colon will blink. SELECTING BETWEEN CD PRESET EQ TURNING THE UNIT ON/OFF AND RADIO MODE 1 1 1 With the power on, press the EQ/TIMER button to cycle through the preset EQ settings or to turn the EQ off. Each press of the PRESET EQ button will cycle as follows: JAZZ, ROCK, POP, CLASSIC, Off. Press the PLAY/PAUSE (®p)/ POWER ON button 1 or RADIO AM/FM/POWER ON button 2 to turn the unit on; the display will light brightly. Press the STOP (n)/TIME SET/POWER OFF button 3 while in the CD stop mode or Radio mode to turn the unit off. If the unit is in CD mode, press the RADIO AM/FM/POWER ON button 1 to change to Radio mode OR If the unit is in RADIO mode, press the PLAY/PAUSE (®p|)/POWER ON button 2 to change to CD mode. 8 OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS (CONTINUED) OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS (CONTINUED) LISTENING TO THE RADIO 1 2 3 Press the RADIO AM/FM/ POWER ON button to turn the unit on; "AM" or "FM" and the frequency will appear in the display. Press the RADIO AM/FM/ POWER ON button to select AM or FM. MANUAL TUNING: Repeatedly press the TIME/TUNING/ SKIP/SEARCH o 1 or n 2 button to manually advance the frequency in the display up or down until the desired frequency appears. 4 5 AUTOMATIC TUNING: Press and hold the TIME/TUNING/ SKIP/SEARCH o 1 or n 2 button until the frequency in the display starts to scan, and then release the button; the tuner will search and then stop on the next strong station it finds. Repeat this step until the desired frequency appears in the display. Press the EQ button 1 and adjust the volume using the VOLUME + 2 or – 3 button as desired. To turn the unit off, press the STOP (n)/TIME SET/POWER OFF button 3. Hints for Better Reception AM–The AM ferrite bar antenna is located inside the unit. It may be necessary to turn the unit slightly so that the internal antenna is pointing in the direction of the AM transmitter. You may have to experiment to find the position that provides the strongest reception for each of your favorite AM stations. FM–Make sure that the FM Wire Antenna is extended to its full length. You may have to vary the direction of the antenna to find the strongest signal for each FM station. 9 OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS (CONTINUED) OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS (CONTINUED) SETTING RADIO PRESETS This unit can preset 10 AM and 10 FM radio stations for convenient recall. 1 2 3 Press the RADIO AM/FM/ POWER ON button to turn the unit on; "AM" or "FM" and the frequency will appear in the display. Press the RADIO AM/FM/ POWER ON button to select AM or FM. Press the TIME/TUNING/ SKIP/SEARCH o 1 or n 2 button to select a station. 4 5 6 Press the PROGRAM/MEMORY button 1; the preset number will blink in the display. Press the ALARM/MODE/MEM+ button 2 until the desired memory number appears on the display. Press the PROGRAM/MEMORY button again to set the station in the selected memory. Repeat steps 3 through 5 to program up to 10 stations in each band, if desired. RECALLING RADIO PRESETS (10 EACH BAND) 1 2 3 Follow steps 1 and 2 above. Press the ALARM/MODE/MEM+ button to select a preset; the station will automatically be tuned in.
