We advise not to use your computer directly on your lap. The temperature of the bottom of the unit may rise during normal operation, and after an extended period of time, could cause discomfort or burns. . Provide adequate air circulation to prevent internal overheating. Do not place your computer on porous surfaces such as rugs, blankets, couches, beds, or near draperies that may block its air vents. . Use only specified peripheral equipment and interface cables. Power Source . Do not place heavy objects on the power cord, or this could cause a fire. . To disconnect the cord, pull it out by holding the plug. Never pull the cord itself. . Unplug your computer from the AC outlet if you are not planning to use the computer for an extended period of time. . When the AC adapter is not used, unplug it from the AC outlet. . Do not leave battery packs in temperatures above 60°C, such as in a car parked in the sun or under direct sunlight. . Certain rechargeable battery packs do not meet Sony quality and safety standards. For safety reasons this computer only functions with genuine Sony battery packs designed for this model. If an unauthorized battery pack is installed, the battery pack will not be charged and the computer will not function. . Keep the battery pack away from all sources of heat. . Keep the battery pack dry. . Do not open or try to disassemble the battery pack. . Do not expose the battery pack to any mechanical shock, such as dropping it on a hard surface. . If you are not using your computer for an extended period of time, remove the battery pack from the computer to prevent damage to the battery pack. . If you have not used the battery pack for a considerable amount of time, the remaining battery life may become short. This is normal and does not indicate a malfunction. The battery pack will gradually discharge over time even while not in use. Connect the AC adapter to your computer and recharge the battery pack before using the computer again. Precautions > Safety Information n106 N Headphones . Road safety – Do not use headphones while driving, cycling, or operating any motorized vehicle. It may create a traffic hazard and is illegal in some areas. It can also be potentially dangerous to play loud music while walking, especially at pedestrian crossings. . Preventing hearing damage – Avoid using headphones at high volume. Hearing experts advise against continuous, loud and extended play. If you experience a ringing in your ears, reduce the volume or discontinue use. "Memory Stick" Keep "Memory Stick" and "Memory Stick" adaptors out of reach of children.
