38 nN Sony Notebook User Guide To display the Jog Dial Setting dialog box, proce ed a s follows: . Right- click the Indicator window or the Jog Dial Navigator ico n in the taskbar, and select Jog Dial Setting from the menu . OR . Double- click Jog Dial Navigator in the Control Panel ( cla ssic view) . OR . Click Start, All Programs, Jog Dial Navigator then Jog Dial Setting. The Jog Dial Setting window appears. Using both scroll and application function ( normal activities): This is the normal activity mode setting for Jog Dial Navigator. Using Jog Dial as a mouse wheel: When this is selected, Jog Dial ™ functions as a mouse wheel only. Disabling all the Jog Dial functions: When this is selected, all of the Jog Dial ™ functions are disabled. Activity setting tab This sets the Jog Dial™ functions. Scroll range: You can drag the slider left or right to set the scroll range. Handling menu or dialog box by Jog Dial. ( You must reboot Windows): When this is selected, you can operate both pop- up menus and dialog boxes with Jog Dial ™. This setting is enabled after you reboot your computer. Select JogScript file: This specifies the location and name of JogScript files. Display/ Sound tab This sets the sound effects for the Jog Dial ™ window display and Jog Dial ™ functions. Enabling moving animation: This enables or disables the animation effects during Jog Dial ™ window display. Transparency: You can drag the slider left or right to set the transparency of the Jog Dial ™ window. Sound when pressing Jog Dial: This specifies the sound file that is played when the Jog Dial ™ is pressed. LINK™ CD- RW/ DVD- ROM drive You can use the external i.LINK™ drive to listen to audio CDs, use the recovery CDs, play DVDs or write your 40 nNown CDs. Setting up the drive The i. LINK™ drive is delivered with the following compone nts: 1 CD- RW/DVD-ROM drive 2 VAIO peripheral cable 3 Vertical installation base. Place the drive carefully in the stand with the drive tray facing towards you. 4 Manual eject pin ( stored on the bottom of the drive) 5 Cable clip. LINK™ connector is a VAIO periphera l original connector. The i.LINK ™ drive’s 41 nNcable has a two- pin plug that has to be connected into both the S400 i. To connect the drive, proceed as follows: 1 Plug the four-pin end of the i.LINK ™ drive’s cable into the optical disc ( 1) . 2 Scroll the LOCK wheel (2) to lock the i.LINK™ drive’s cable. 3 Plug the two- pin end of the i.LINK ™ drive’s cable ( 3) into the note book’s S400 i.LINK ™ connector ( 4) and the VAIO peripheral original connector (5) . LINK™ connector and the VAIO peripheral connector. Inserting a disc To insert a disc, proceed as follows: 1 Turn on the computer. 2 Press the eject button to open the disc drive. The tra y slides out. 3 Place a disc in the middle of the tray with the label side facing outwards until the disc clicks into place. 4 Close the tray by pushing it gently. . When the computer is in Standby or Hibernate mo de, yo u cann ot ins ert or remo ve a disc. Be s ure to seat the disc firmly over the disc d rive hu b fin gers. When you have finished using a disc, wait until the LED indicator turns off and then press the eject button to remove the disc. If the tray does not come out when you press the eject button, go to My Computer. Select the drive, click the right button of your mouse and select Eject o r press + keys to open the disc tray. If it still does not work, turn off the computer and insert the manual eject pin ( stored on the bottom of the drive) into the manual eject hole.
