The green power indicator light is on in this mode. To save power while not working, you can turn off a specific device such as the LCD or the hard disk. Using Standby mode The computer saves the current state of the system in RAM and switches off power to the CPU. T he umber power light flashes in this mode. To activate Sta ndby mode, proceed as follows: Windows ® 2000: Go to the Start men u, click Shut Down.. . , and then choose Stand By from the drop- down menu. Or, Press the power button and release it immediately or press + . Windows ® XP: Go to the Start menu, click Turn Off Computer, and then Stand By or press + . To return to Normal mode, proceed as follows: Press any key. To insert a disc, proceed as follows: 1 Turn on the computer. 2 Press the eject button (1) to open the drive.
