Be sure to connect an external optical disc drive to an AC power source before using the drive. . If there is any unnecessary external device connected to your computer, disconnect it. . If you receive error messages while recovering your computer system, try these suggestions below: . If you cannot recover your computer system, because you deleted the original recovery partition on the built-in storage device before creating your recovery discs, a new recovery disc set can be purchased through Sony support service. Visit the VAIO-Link web site for the contact details in your country/area. . You have used software to modify the recovery partition. . You have installed an operating system different from the preinstalled operating system on your computer. . You have formatted your hard disk without using VAIO Recovery Center. . Make sure your computer is securely plugged into a power source and turned on and the power indicator light is lit. . Make sure the battery pack* is installed properly and charged. . Disconnect all connected USB devices (if any), and then restart your computer. . Remove any extra memory modules you may have installed since purchase, and then restart your computer. . If your computer is plugged into a power strip or an uninterruptible power supply (UPS), make sure the power strip or UPS is plugged into a power source and turned on. .
