NOTE Some modes are only available with the appropriate device attached and turned on. The quickest way to change the display output settings is to use the display hot key (Fn + F5): 1 Press Fn and F5 simultaneously. 2 While holding down Fn, press F5 repeatedly until the setting you want takes effect. Briefly pause each time you press the F5 key to allow time for the display to change. This hot key cycles through the settings in the following order (the last two options are available if an external monitor is connected): . Built-in display only . Getting Started Getting Started Using an external keyboard Adjusting the quality of the external display To obtain the best picture quality from your monitor (or other video display device), you may need to adjust the video settings. See the video device documentation for additional configuration steps. Using an external keyboard If you prefer to use an external keyboard, you can attach one to your computer. The computer’s USB ports support most USB-compatible keyboards. Using a mouse You may want to use a mouse instead of the computer’s built-in TouchPad™. You can use a USB-compatible mouse. Connecting a printer NOTE Your printer documentation may require you to install the printer software before physically connecting the printer to your computer. If you do not install the software as instructed by the printer manufacturer, the printer may not function correctly. Read the documentation that came with your printer. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions when connecting a printer. You can connect a USB-compatible printer to your computer through the USB ports. To determine if the printer is USB-compatible, check its documentation. To make the connection, you need a suitable USB cable which may come with your printer. If a USB cable was not included with your printer, you can purchase one from a computer or electronics store. If your printer supports Plug and Play, your computer may automatically recognize the printer; the printer is then ready for use. Refer to your printer documentation for further instructions.
