manual abstract

Disconnect the AC power cord/cable and remove the main battery pack. See “Changing the main battery” on page 124 for information on replacing the main battery. Charging the main battery Before using the battery to power the computer, you must charge the battery. To charge the battery, leave the computer plugged into an AC power source with the computer turned off until the battery light glows white. After that, the battery will be completely charged and ready to power the computer. Once the battery is charged for the first time, avoid leaving the computer plugged in and turned off for more than a few hours at a time. Continuing to charge a fully charged battery can damage the battery. TECHNICAL NOTE: The recharging of the battery cannot occur when your computer is using all of the power provided by the AC adaptor to run applications, features, and devices. Your computer’s Power Options utility can be used to select a power level setting that reduces the power required for system operation and will allow the battery to recharge. NOTE Battery life and charge time may vary depending on the applications, power management settings, and features used. 48 48 48 Using the computer for the first time Using the computer for the first time The computer is now ready for you to turn it on and begin using it. Do not press or push on the display panel and be careful to remove any pens or other objects from the keyboard area before closing the display panel. Small bright dots may appear on your screen display when you turn on your computer. Your display contains an extremely large number of thin-film transistors (TFT) and is manufactured using high-precision technology. Any small bright dots that may appear on your display are an intrinsic characteristic of the TFT manufacturing technology. Over a period of time, and depending on the usage of the computer, the brightness of the screen will deteriorate. This is also an intrinsic characteristic of the screen technology.
