Use the special bag supplied with the memory module or wrap the module in aluminum foil to protect it from ESD. . Introducing any liquids, foreign substances, or objects into the memory module slots or other internal components of your computer will result in damage to the computer and any repair costs will not be covered by the warranty. . Do not place the memory module in a location subject to: . Heat sources such as radiators or air ducts . Direct sunlight . Excessive dust . Mechanical vibration or shock . Strong magnets or speakers that are not magnetically shielded . Ambient temperature of more than 35°C or less than 5°C . High humidity . Handle the memory module with care. To avoid injuries to your hands and fingers, do not touch the edges of the components and circuit boards inside your computer. Upgrading Your VAIO Computer > Adding and Removing Memory n150 N Removing and Installing a Memory Module To change or add a memory module 1 Shut down the computer and disconnect all peripheral devices. 2 Unplug the computer and remove the battery pack. 3 Wait about an hour until the computer cools down. 4 Unscrew two screws (indicated by the arrows below) on the bottom of the computer and remove the memory module compartment cover. Pull the latches in the direction of the arrows (1). The memory module is released. . Make sure that the memory module tilts up and then pull it out in the direction of the arrow (2). Remove the new memory module from its packaging. Do not touch any components on the motherboard other than the memory module. Be sure to insert the connector edge of the memory module into the slot while aligning the notch on the module with the small projection in the open slot. Do not force the memory module into the slot in a wrong orientation, as it may cause damage to the slot and the module. Replace the memory module compartment cover. 10 Tighten the screws on the bottom of the computer. 11 Reinstall the battery pack and turn on the computer.
