A AUTO VAR». 8 [■Roland Features 1. The “Arrange”, a built-in automatic arranging unit provides wide variation of rhythm patterns. 2. Twenty-seven rhythms are available in all; eighteen rhythms including six rock rhythms with the Variation Selector Controls and nine rhythms in the Rhythm Selector Pushbuttons. 3. With wide-range Tempo and Balance Controls, subtle variations of rhythm sounds and varied rhythms are available. 4. Construction is surprisingly compact. Ideal for enhancing performances of combos, solo guitar, for mixing and recording, as well as solo electronic organ performances. Preparation 1. After connecting properly (refer to “Connection” below), switch on the Rhythm Arranger and the amplifier to be connected with the Rhythm Arranger. 2. Set the Rhythm Arranger and amplifier volume controls properly while balancing their volumes. 3. Set the Rhythm and Variation Selector Controls for the desired rhythm pattern. 4. Set “Arrange” at one of the three variations; VARI. A, AUTO, or VARI. B for rhythm pattern changes. 5. Select the rhythm tempo by Tempo Control and push the Start Button. The selected rhythm is in effect from the first beat of the bar. 6. Use Balance Control for giving accents to rhythm sounds according to your own taste. Connection • High- and low-impedance output plug sockets are provided for proper connection to achieve the best sound quality. Select the right one, taking .into consideration desired volume. Turning clockwise from OFF, power is supplied, and turning further to the right increases volume. €) Tempo Control Controls rhythm tempo in a wide range from slow (J = 50) to quick (J = 200); turning clockwise increases tempo. A rhythm chosen by selector buttons (rock 2, 2 beat 3 and 4 beat 4 ) and 6-shift switch 5 starts with the push of the Variation Selector Button 1 . © Start Button O START A light-touch pushbutton is used for smooth start/stop operation. Tempo Pilot Lamp illuminates at the first beat of every bar for indication of rhythm speed. Q Balance Control BALANCE Controls balance of purcussion instruments, and is normally set at the center. When turned counterclockwise, the sound of bass purcussion instrument (bass drum) is emphasized, while the sound of treble purcussion instrument (cymbal, hi-hat) is weakened and finally cancelled. When turned clockwise, the sound of cymbal and hi-hat are emphasized, while the sound of bass drum is weakened and finally cancelled. With the Balance Control, subtle variation of rhythm is possible. 0 VARI. A AUTO VARI. 6 VARI. B: AUTO: All twenty-seven rhythms provided by the Rhythm Selector and Variation Selector can be performed in three ways using Arrange Selector. VARI. A: Normal performance in constant rhythm pattern. Varied rhythm pattern comes in at every other bar. Combination of VARI. A and VARI. B. Varied rhythm pattern comes in at every fourth bar.
