16GB Sound Adjustment Timer Adjusting the sound Falling asleep to music Generating a more dynamic sound —DSG Press DSG* on the remote. “DSG” appears. To cancel the DSG, press DSG on the remote again. * DSG: Dynamic Sound Generator Tip DSG is factory set to on. Selecting the surround effect Press SURROUND on the remote. “SURR” appears. To cancel the surround effect, press SURROUND on the remote again. Adjusting the bass and treble To adjust Press Bass BASS + or – on the remote repeatedly. Treble TREBLE + or – on the remote repeatedly. Tips • You can adjust the bass and treble in 7 steps (from –3 to +3). • You can enjoy the original sound by setting BASS and TREBLE to “– –”. —Sleep Timer You can set the system to turn off after a certain time, so that you can fall asleep to music. Press SLEEP on the remote repeatedly. Each time you press the button, the minute display (the turn-off time) changes cyclically as follows: AUTO* t 90min t 80min t 70min t … t 10min t OFF * The system automatically turns off after the current sound source finishes playing (up to 4 hours). To Press Check the remaining SLEEP on the remote once. sleep time** Change the time to SLEEP on the remote turn off repeatedly to select the time you want. Sound Adjustment/Timer 17GB Waking up to music Waking up to music —Play Timer By setting the Play Timer, you can make the system automatically turn on and off at specified day and times. To use this function, make sure that you have set the system clock correctly (see “Setting the clock” on page 8). 1 Prepare the sound source you want to play. • CD: Load a CD. To start from a specific track, make a program (see “Programing CD tracks” on page 10). • Radio: Tune in the preset radio station that you want (see “Listening to the radio” on page 15). 2 Press VOLUME + or – (or VOL + or – on the remote) repeatedly to adjust the volume. 3 Press CLOCK/TIMER SET on the remote. “PLAY SET?” flashes, then press ENTER/ YES on the remote. 4 Press . or > on the remote repeatedly until the type of timer you want appears, then press ENTER/YES on the remote. To play Select Only once PLAY ONCE? Everyday PLAY DAILY? The same day(s) PLAY WEEKLY? every week 5 Set the time to start playing. If you selected “PLAY ONCE?” or “PLAY WEEKLY?” in step 4, press . or > on the remote to set the day, then press ENTER/YES on the remote. The hour indication flashes. Press . or > on the remote repeatedly to set the hour, then press ENTER/YES on the remote. The minute indication flashes. Press . or > on the remote repeatedly to set the minute, then press ENTER/YES on the remote. The following indication flashes again if you selected in step 4: “PLAY ONCE?” or “PLAY WEEKLY?”: The day indication “PLAY DAILY?”: The hour indication. 6 Set the time to stop playing following the procedure in step 5. 7 Press . or > on the remote repeatedly until the desired sound source appears. The indication changes as follows: TUNER y CD PLAY 8 Press ENTER/YES on the remote. The type of timer, the start time, the stop time, the sound source, and the volume appear in turn, then the original display returns. 9 Press @/1 to turn off the system. 18GB Display To Do this Check the settings Press CLOCK/TIMER SELECT on the remote, then press ENTER/YES on the remote. “PLAY ON?” appears, then press ENTER/ YES on the remote. Change the setting Start over from step 1. Cancel the timer Press CLOCK/TIMER SELECT on the remote and press . or > on the remote repeatedly until “TIMER OFF?” appears, then press ENTER/YES on the remote. Notes • Do not operate the system from the time the system turns on until the play starts (about 15 seconds before the preset time). Otherwise the timer will not be activated correctly. • If you use the Play Timer at the same time as the Sleep Timer, the Sleep Timer has priority. • You cannot use the optional components connected to PC/TAPE/MD IN jack as the sound source for Play Timer. Turning off the display —Power Saving Mode Even if the system is off, the system consumes power to display the clock and to stay responsive to commands from the remote. The Power Saving Mode is introduced to reduce the amount of power consumed during standby. In this mode, the clock is not displayed. Press DISPLAY while the system is off until the clock display disappears. To cancel Power Saving Mode Press DISPLAY while the system is off. The display changes as follows: Clock display* y No display (Power Saving Mode) * The clock is displayed only when you have set the clock. Tip The timer continues to operate during Power Saving Mode.
