Unplug it immediately. • Do not operate the appliance with the cable still coiled. • Do not use this appliance if the guide comb is broken or damaged or if the blades are missing teeth. • Do not leave the appliance operating unattended, especially with the disabled or children about. • Do not unplug it by tugging on the mains cable. • Keep the appliance and the cable away from hot surfaces. • Do not pull, twist or wind the cable around the body of the appliance. • Never drop or insert objects inside any of the openings. • Do not place the appliance down on any surface while it is still operating. • Do not use outdoors or close to areas where aerosol sprays are being used or where oxygen is being administered. • Do not place or store the appliance where there is a risk of it falling. • Make sure that the appliance is unplugged from the mains before cleaning it. • NEVER IMMERSE THE APPLIANCE IN WATER OR ANY OTHER LIQUID. • Do not switch the appliance on if the cable or plug are damaged or if it can be detected that the appliance is not working correctly • The precision trimmer can be used with the adapter, included with the unit, after plugging it in to a wall socket or without the mains cable once the batter y is charged. Before using the precision trimmer for the first time leave it to charge for at least 16 hours. • When using the precision trimmer with the adaptor, first connect the adaptor to the unit and then plug it into the wall socket. When you have finished using the precision trimmer, switch it off by setting the switch to the OFF position, unplug the adaptor from the wall socket and then disconnect it from the unit. • Always unplug the appliance when it is not in use, unless it is charging, and before cleaning it. • Do not wind the adaptor cable around the precision trimmer. • Keep the adaptor cable away from hot surfaces. • Do not use the appliance if the adaptor cable or connection socket are damaged. • The precision trimmer must only be used with the adaptor supplied. • Warning: Before plugging the appliance into the mains, check that the adapter voltage matches the mains voltage. This is extremely important when using the appliance in other countries. • Keep the blade cover fitted when the precision trimmer is not in use. • Cable repairs and replacements must be carried out exclusively by an Authorised Technical Service Centre. OIL -Periodic lubrication will make the blades last much longer. Lubricate the blades after ever y few uses. (Fig. 1) -Only use the oil supplied with the appliance. Apply a few drops to the teeth on the blades and switch the appliance on for a few seconds. Never use hair oil, grease mixed with kerose ne or any type of solvent. As the solvent evaporates it will leave a thick layer of grease that will slow down the movement of the blades. FITTING THE WALL SUPPORT Do the following to assemble the charger base wall support: • Insert the jack for the charger/adapter into the hole at the bottom of the wall support and twist the catch so that it locks it into position (figure 2). • Plug the charger/adapter into an electric socket. The precision trimmer will start to charge as soon as it is slotted into the wall support The charge indicator lamp will light up (figure 3). P6105.indd 8 3/11/06 12:16:2 CHARGING THE UNIT Charge process To use the hair trimmer without the cable set the on/off switch to the “0” position. Plug the adapter/charger into an electric socket and insert the adapter jack into hole “A” on the appliance. (Figure 4), place the unit into its stand, figure 3, and the charge indicator lamp (7) will light up, indicating that the appliance is charging. Leave it to charge for about 6 hours for the first charge. Continuous 24 hour charging is not recommended. Try not to charge the appliance at tempera tures below 0. C or above 40. C. After the initial charge you can use the precision trimmer until you notice that it is losing power, after approximately 30 minutes of use. You should then charge the appliance for approximately 4 hours, depending on the state of the battery. To prolong the life of the batteries it is advisable to discharge them fully ever y 6 months. Then charge the batteries back up to their maximum capacity. It is preferable not to keep the appliance permanently charged. After charging the appliance, unplug the unit from the wall socket and remove the jack from the charger stand. NOTE: The power adapter may warm up slightly. This does not indicate that it is faulty. It is perfectly safe to use. USE Press the On/Off to switch the precision trimmer to the ON position. When you have finished trimming, switch the trimmer off and put it back in its stand. TIPS FOR USING THE PRECISION TRIMMER To attach a cutting guide, slot the accessor y on to the blades (Figure 5) and press down so that it locks on correctly.
