Upgrade Blade Link.
c.
Remove the Blade Links from all original systems.
NOTE:
Rules governing the version and loading of processor modules, memory DIMMs,
and I/O mezzanine cards must be followed for the upgraded server type and checked as
described in the HP Integrity BL860c i4, BL870c i4 & BL890c i4 Server Blade User Service
Guide.
d.
Install the Upgrade Blade Link.
e.
Perform a check of the upgraded server firmware to see if the original servers and new Upgrade
Blades have consistent firmware versions. This is executed at the iLO MP Command Menu prompt
by entering sr.
f.
If the firmware versions are not consistent, then update the server to the most recent firmware
version using the normal firmware update procedures.
3.
Complete the Upgrade
a.
From the upgrade system iLO MP interface Command Menu prompt, enter sysset to set system
information for the upgraded server.
NOTE:
System Information such as UUID, Serial Number, Product Name, and Product
Number are exchanged between the Upgrade Blade Link and the system being upgraded.
The resulting system retains the original UUID and Serial Number, but reports a Product
Name and Number reflecting the upgraded server type.
b.
Remove the “Field Upgrade Only” label form the Upgrade Blade Link.
c.
From the iLO interface Command Menu, enter npar. This will indicate a default partition of AA
for an upgrade to a BL870c i4 or AAAA for an upgrade to a BL890c i4. Change the partition
setting so that each blade is in its own partition: AB for a BL870c i4 or ABCD for a BL890c i4.
The iLO should reset automatically. This will help to clear any stale or inconsistent system settings
in the auxiliary blades while leaving the main system settings intact.
d.
From the iLO MP Command Menu, enter npar and set the desired final partitioning for the upgraded
server.
e.
If VC is being used, assign the original VC server profile to the upgraded server.
f.
Test boot each partition to the EFI shell to ensure that each is working properly.
g.
Boot the server Operating System and make sure the system functions as expected, especially
networking and storage.
h.
The Operating System license must be upgraded and applied to the upgraded server.
4.
Warranty Registration
Make arrangements for the Warranty and Support Plan to be moved to the upgraded server blade.
