Disconnectthecapfromthesparkplug,andremoveanydirtfrom the sparkplugarea. 2. Usethepropersizesparkplugwrenchtoremovethesparkplug. NOTE:Replacewitha Champion®RC12YCsparkplug. 3. Checkthegapwithawiregauge.SeeFigure11.Sparkpluggap shouldbe0.030in (0.76ram).If necessary,resetthegap. 4. installandtightenthesparkplugtotherecommendedtorque(180 Ib-in[20 Nm]). 5. Attachthesparkplugcapto thesparkplug. Air Cleaner A dirtyaircleanerwillrestrictairflowtothecarburetorandcausepoor engineperformance,inspectthe filtereachtimetheengineis operated. Youwill needto cleanthe filtermorefrequentlyif youoperatethe enginein verydusty areas. Cleantheair cleanerevery25hoursofoperationoroncea season. Replacetheaircleanerannually. Iftheoillevelisnearor belowthelowerlimitmarkonthedipstick, removetheoil fillercap/dipstick,andfillwiththerecommendedoil to the upperlimitmark.Do not overfill. 5. Reinstalltheoilfilldipstick. IDonot discardwithhouseholdwaste.Checkwithyourlocalauthori_ tiesor SearsServiceCenterfor safedisposal/recyclingfacilities. 4. Withtheengineinalevelposition,filltotheupperlimitmarkonthe dipstickwiththe recommendedoil. Runningtheenginewitha lowoil levelcancauseenginedamage. 5. Reinstalltheoilfilldipsticksecurely. Clean Engine • Dailyor beforeeveryuse,cleangrass,chaffor accumulated debrisfromengine.Keeplinkage,spring,andcontrolsclean. Keepareaaroundandbehindmufflerfreeof any combustible debris. • Keepingenginecleanallowsairmovementaroundengine. • Enginepartsshouldbekeptcleantoreducetheriskofoverheatingandignitionof accumulateddebris. Do not usewaterto cleanengineparts.Watercouldcontaminatefuel system.Usea brushor dry cloth.
