Refer to the information about batteries in “For Your Safety” on page 23 and “Applicable Batteries” on page 28, and in “Caring for the Product” in the Reference Manual. Make sure the camera and your hands are not wet. Turn off the camera and then turn the camera upside-down, being careful not to let the batteries and memory card fall out. Make sure that there are no foreign substances inside the battery-chamber/ memory card slot cover and internal cover. Make sure that the internal cover and battery-chamber/memory card slot cover are firmly closed. While pushing down on the batteries with the internal cover, slide the cover toward the center of the camera. Slide the battery-chamber/ memory card slot cover until it clicks into place. Get Ready Using the Monitor Flexible buttons To select an item displayed on the screen, press the flexible button next to it. When taking pictures, be careful not to cover the flash or lens with your fingers. • • B After Attaching the Strap Do not swing the camera by the strap. The camera takes a picture about ten seconds after you press the shutter-release button. Press one of the flexible buttons, and then press I to set the self-timer. Turning the camera off When you are finished taking pictures, press the power switch again.
