A Standby button (27) This button is used to set the DPC-8.5 to Standby. B On button (27) This button is used to turn on the DPC-8.5. Don’t turn on the DPC-8.5 until you’ve completed and double checked all of your connections (page 20). C Search button (33, 36, 41) This button is used to search for titles, chapters, groups, tracks, and specific points in time. D Last M button (48) This button is used with the Last Memory function. E Number buttons (33, 36, 41) These buttons are used to enter title, chapter, group, and track numbers and to enter times for locating specific points in time. To enter a single-digit number, simply press the cor- responding button. To enter a double-digit number, enter the numbers in order from left-to-right (e.g., to enter 14, press [1] then [4]. The [+10] button is used to enter multiples of ten (i.e., 10, 20, 30, and so on). For example, to enter the number 25, press the [+10] button twice fol- lowed by the [5] button. F Top Menu button (32) This button is used to select the top menu. G Return button (54) This button is used to return to the previously dis- played onscreen setup menu. H Audio button (47) This button is used to select foreign language soundtracks and audio formats (e.g., Dolby Digital or DTS). It’s also used to select the multichannel area, 2-channel area, or CD layer on SACDs. I Angle button (46) This button is used to select different camera angles. J FR [ ] button (37) This button is used to start fast reverse. K FF [ ] button (37) This button is used to start fast forward. L Disc 1–6 buttons (30) These buttons are used to select discs. Playback starts automatically when discs are selected with these buttons. M Disc Skip button (29, 30) This button is used to select the disc bays (i.e., rotate the disc tray) when loading or removing discs, and to select discs for playback. U Clear button (33, 36, 46) This button is used to cancel functions and to clear entered numbers. V Menu button (32) This button is used to show DVD menus. W Enter button (27) This button is used to start playback of the selected title chapter, group, or track and to confirm settings. X Arrow [ ], [ ], [ ], [ ] buttons (27) These buttons are used to navigate onscreen menus. Y Setup button (54) This button is used to open and close the onscreen setup menus.
