Try to keep this ratcheting to a minimum for longest clutch life and longer screwdriving capacity between charges. Always drill pilot holes for wood screws. Spraying all screws with a dry lubricant will glm them the east©«! rundown. Experiment with different types of sheet metal screws to find the ones best syited to your application. pi©«* ? ADJUSTING DEPTH — PEPTH-SSfiSnWI 8CRUQUMS; 1. Pull back Collar and screw Locator in or out as follows: a) For DrywaiS Screws, end of bit should extend approximately 3/16* beyond end of Locator. b) For Washer Hex Head Screws, the nut setter should be approximately flush with end of Locator. c) For large Washer Head and “Sealer” Screws, the nutsetter should be recessed about 1/16* into Locator. 2. Make sure notches in Locator engage with pins In Collar. 3. Test drive a fastener in scrap material to determine if fastener is seating correctly. 4. Further fine adjustment may be necessary to increase or decrease fastener depth. Each notch setting change represents a .0083* change in depth setting (.050* for one complete revolution). Self lubricating bearings are used in the tool and periodic relubrication is not required, Howevor, it is recommended that, once a year, you take or send the tool to a B&D Service Center for a thorough cleaning, inspection and lubrication of the gear case. NOTE: The metal contacts of the Power Pack may corrode slightly after a period of time. 11 ihis occurs, remove the deposits with a soft cloth or standard pencil eraser. STORAGE 1. The best storage place is one that is cool and dry—away from direct sunlight, heating pipes or ducts, furnaces, etc. Power Packs should not be stored in a position where their contacts could touch metal objects. 2. Best storage temperature is approximately +50°F. Do not store where temperatures may go below +40°F or above +120°F. Avoid storage in outside metal buildings where the temperature could go above +120°F in summer, as this could damage the power pack. 3. Long storage will not harm the Scrugun, Power Pack or Charger. Under the proper conditions (given above) they can be stored for 5 years or*more without harm. IMPORTANT To assure product SAFETY and RELIABILITY, repairs, maintenance and adjustment, (including brush inspection and replacement) should be performed by Black & Decker Service Centers or other qualified service organizations, always using Black & Decker replacement parts.
