However, wine experts suggest that the ideal serving temperature for champagne is 43.F, blush wines are 40 to 44.F, white wines are 45 to 50.F, red wines are 57 to 67.F, and sake rice wines are 122.F. Refrigerators chill wine to a temperature of approximately 37.F. Therefore, wine stored in the refrigerator is too cold for optimum serving temperatures and wine stored at room temperature is too warm for ideal serving temperature. • The Thermos Wine Chiller will allow you to serve wine at the ideal recommended temperature. However, since serving temperature is subject to personal preference, experimentation will help you to find your perfect serving temperature. • Setting 10 is a heat setting that is indicated by a red light. 5 55 840116400 ENv03.qxd 6/24/03 8:35 AM Page 6 Wine Guide Wine Setting Time* Starting Temperature SPARKLING Asti Spumanti Champagne Water 1 to 2 Ready to serve P R E C H I L L BLUSH Rose White Zinfandel 3 to 4 2 hours WHITE Chardonnay, Chablis, Pinot Grigio, Riesling, Sauternes 4 to 5 21. 2 hours RED Beaujolais, Bordeaux, Burgandy, Cabernet, Chianti, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Rioja, Shiraz, Vintage Port, Zinfandel 5 to 7 1 hour R O O M T E M PSAKE** 10 2 hours * Time indicates the amount of time needed for the unit to achieve the correct serving temperature of the wine. ** This is a heat setting; do not use this setting with carbonated beverages such as champagne or sparkling wine. 6 How to Use 1.
