Turn to cook other side. Cooking times will be longer, at least doubled Fatty meats will. spatter more with open grilling, but meats and fish steaks will have attractive grill marks on both sides. Many foods, like burgers or hot dogs, can be cooked on the Grill or the Griddle. If cooking for a crowd, use both sides when possible. MIX AND MATCH To cover Grill and Griddle surfaces. Cook 1 food on the Griddle and another on the Grill. For example, cook a ham steak on the Grill and pineapple slices on the Griddle. Or, bacon on the Grill and pancakes on the Griddle. CARE AND CLEANING IMPORTANT: Always allow the unit to cool completely before cleaning! 1. When finished cooking, unplug the unit from the outlet and remove both the Grill Probe and Griddle Control before cleaning. 2. Slide out the removable Grease Tray and pour off grease into a disposable cup or can. The Grease Tray is dishwasher-safe or it may be washed by hand in soapy water. 3. You may clean the cooking surfaces by wiping them with a wet sponge or cloth and dish detergent. Or, separate the 2 sides — open the unit into the vertical position, tilt the Griddle forward (toward you), slide it as far to the left as possible and lift out the right side to free the pin from the hinge. Once separated, you can submerge and wash each part in a sink of soapy water. The Grill and Griddle are not dishwasher-safe. 4. To remove cooked-on food, use a plastic bristle brush or polyester or nylon mesh pad. Do not use steel wool pads or other harsh, abrasive cleaners on the cooking surfaces as they may damage the non-stick coating. Never spray or apply cleaners directly onto the Grill. 5. Be sure to clean the handles after each use. Dry thoroughly with a soft cloth. Makes: About 6 (1-cup) servings. TIPS TO GET THE MOST FROM YOUR INDOOR GRILL 1. Remember to preheat for 5-7 minutes, in the closed position, for best results. 2. To prevent scratching surfaces, always use plastic utensils. Never cut foods on the Grill. 3. Flat, thin, and boneless foods grill best. Foods that are too thick take too long to cook (like bone-in chicken breasts, or corn on the cob). Cuts of meat without bones, i.e. boneless pork chops, boneless steaks, brown and cook much more evenly than those with bones. 4. With foods that are very low fat, i.e. fish steaks, chicken breasts, turkey burgers, veggie burgers, vegetable slices, use a light coating of vegetable oil or lightly spray with a non-stick cooking spray to keep foods from drying out or sticking to the Grill surface.
